Best PvP MMO on the market?

HiddenxdragonHiddenxdragon Member UncommonPosts: 127

As the title says, What is the best PvP MMO on the market atm?

I would say as well the most balanced, and has some form of world PvP not just  Arena's or battle grounds.

I was playing Darkfall:UH but some things never change IE: developers.

As to what I see and have played, I would say GW2 IMO. But I really dont care for the endless bg's over and over again.

Fantasy based, with character models, solo, and group play.

So please tell me in your opionion what is the best PvP mmo currently?

If you think GW2 has got the best PvP, then you have been missing out big time. Eve is a good choice.

I'd also recommend WAR, only because the RvR in that game is unmatched by any other. The downside is there is a $15 sub and the developers probably won't update the game ever again. There is a very strong active community though on the badlands server. You won't have a problem finding a guild and people to play with.

Space ships like come on bro... Space ships? man... Ive played WAR years ago... it was alright but I thought it died out.

    EvE, meh.

As to GW2, I like the game, the pvp, I have to say, I have found lacking. The speed at which one can be killed is ridiculous.

and here I thought WoW was bursty....

and no I don't have anything constructive to add to this conversation other than you should edit your post so you don't bring out every GW2 hater to the yard. I think the pvp in mmo's sucks at the moment. WoW is fun. Oh here they come, its the WoW hater club...just wait.... like blood to sharks.

Ideally trending PvP game. With class balance, that has actual character models. Solo and group pvp. Ring any bells?

No, there was a time when they did server merges because obviously servers were losing people. I believe that there is now 1 server for the US, badlands, and one server for the EU.

They've made some great updates that effected RvR, after a majority of the population left the game. The classes are also way more balanced than they were at launch. I think people went a little overboard with the balancing issues. The game wasn't balanced for 1 vs 1 fights, which is what many people were up in arms about, but instead it was balanced based on group play. Playing with a group in WAR isn't essential, but can be very helpful, especially if you find a guild and make a lot of friends as I did. That is part of the reason why I stayed so long.

Maybe it would be better if you specify what kind of PvP game you are looking for.

Other games to consider, Aion, and WoW.

    Depends on what you favor

If you like fantasy and action paced combat, its impossible to deny GW2

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

The WvW in GW2 is fantastic, but maybe you have just to wait a little: http://albiononline.com/

After Eve Online, which is certainly not a game for everyone, In my opinion it is better to discuss pvp in terms of "what is least bad" rather than "what is best."

Darkfall, Mortal Online, Age of Wushu  -- this is my personal list of top games after Eve when it comes to "world pvp."

MO has some severe balance issues but is a great game still.

Wushu has some issues being run by an incompetent company (Snail) but also can be a lot of fun if you can take the bad with the good.

between these two MO is easily the more sandbox style game if that means anything to anyone.

Then there is the long list of games which don't integrate PVP into the game but segregate it away into its own little area.   I can't help with which is better, from my viewpoint after having played them they all just seem kind of the same to me.

The thing about GW2, most everyone in my guild of 100 or so people quit it within a few months because the pvp was "just the same thing over and over again."  I stuck it out for quite a while due to lack of options on the market but it can get repetitive fast.  It isn't bad for what it is, but at the same time it isn't a replacement for the type of pvp you would see in Mortal or Wushu.  PvP in a static area with a static character chasing a static goal is just giong to be that way.

Although in no way can I agree with you that GW2's WvW is fantastic by any means, I will also be banking on Albion Online. I'd recommend you to sign up for alpha. This game in many ways is a lot like UO, but is more modern, in many of its features. It will be a sandbox with open world ffa pvp, and has territory control. It will be the first mmo that has used a cross platform setup. You'll be able to play it on your tablet depending on how new it is, and on your PC.

I am going to suggest League of Legends as the best PVP MMO right now of interest to people that once enjoyed MMORPG PVP.  It will  handle your PVP needs better in the current gaming age without all the BS. To be honest, most MMORPGs, even the hardcore FFA ones like Dark Fall, EVE  et all that people love to recommend off reading the title exists honestly flat-out SUCK so bad for PVP fun that the emotional disappointment of play will condense your head into a raisin.

Vendetta Online, because of the depth of its Newtonian 6DoF twitch combat combined with the temporal socioeconomic flows in a non-instanced virtual world.

I don't know I like lineage 2 PvP thats some epic warfare and I also enjoy GW2 WvW DaOC has some really good RvR but for right now if I want true on PvP I get on Champions of Regnum its like DaOC but has some fun PvP when you do get some small group battles to large scale epic battles. But its all in player choice on what they like I also like DCUO PvP server minus the grind for gear.

Tera has really fun pvp, and general gameplay. Pity the enchanting system is the biggest piece of crap anyone ever made and that there is nothing to do at max level outside pvp.

The best pvp mmo on the market is guildwars 2,
  • ArChWindArChWind Member UncommonPosts: 1,340

    As others have said. EVE

Giving this a go myself on a trial. Has a very steep learning curve. Still on the fence though if I will buy a sub and only 3 days into it.

Eve is the absolute best pvp mmo if you don't have any other stipulations.

i know you do have stipulations, but if PVP is *that* important to you you still are better suited to try Eve and see if you can get around your hangups.

if you absolutely, positively must have a fantasy MMO with PVP i might try Lineage 2 although you'll have to level a LOT to get to the fun pvp stuff.

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.
