Yeah, just get Conj to 15 and do your main story quests to access the dungeons.  And guildhests.  Once you get that, you're golden.  Went from 15 to 20 on my Conj in a couple hours healing through dungeons/guildhests.

Impressions on the other hand can be a fun topic.

First up: The tutorial, I've said enough about it at this point to not have to go into much detail, as I've already been labeled as crying in regard to it. I'll just say it needs some improvement as well as a path to avoid it from the start,  I'd hate to have to go through that locked in sequence every single time I start an alt as an example.

Combat: Almost perfect for an MMO, it has the right touch of excitement mostly achieved through flashiness. It's the kind of smoothness you want to see in an online game.

While the cool down was off putting at first, I grew used to it fairly quickly. That's when the real fun began, it's been a while since I played an MMO where killing in and of itself was such a fun time waster. I rarely got the run down feeling you get playing certain MMO's that just reek of dullness, combat feels fluid, tight and effective. I really can't see much of a negative about it unless you simply prefer twitch.

Graphics: need I even comment on them? They're simply gorgeous. Performance while I played was silky smooth.

Questing: A mixed bag of nostalgic pleasure and "come on now, really?!?" frustration. The dialogue and writing has it's charm, it felt very oldschool JRPG in many areas, yet felt extremely bland and tedious in others. It has the type of stuff you'd both want to see and not IMO. It has whimsical as well as gruff characters like most RPGS, yet it has bland lifeless filler fodder in equal measure like many MMOs.

Presentation: Both great and dull. The cutscenes are great, some of the writing is great, yet at other times it's extremely tedious or just filler. As with questing it's a mixed bag. One that you'll have to judge on your own.

Overall: I like the game for the most part, there are some approaches I'd rather see like VO and a better selection of quest types early on. AT present the jury is still out for this judge. Right now it's not a day one purchase priority for me, yet I may pick it up at some point.

Feel free to share your impressions or blast mine.

My favorite kick in the nads is when I was doing a level 5 quest and the NPC was "judging" my gear. I had to have everythiny up to par for me to continue my questing and during that time I had everything but pants on my character. I sat there and said, "Oh come on! where am I going to get some pants?!".

I completed this quest at level 8 with my legacy character, couldn't find a quest where I'd get the pants for reward so I switched to Gladiator and equipped high lvl. pants from that class and completed the quest.

There is a merchant right behind you that sells armor. Took all of 1 min to turn around, buy some new armor, and get back to the quest giver.

Because you have to get to lvl 15 first?!  He was describing the attack chain for CNJ to a tee...comical and monotonous as it is.  Of course we aren't rolling support for exciting combat, but to...you know...support groups.  :))

My only issue thus far has been waiting for respawns with about 20 other people.

@ whoever suggested I say something about sound, you're right, the sound is extremely immersive :).

Thanks for keeping it constructive and civil everyone, great posts in here. :D

I hate the moogle English voice in the level 5 Gridania cutscene. It sounds like an annoying kid XD. But it is a moogle, so I'll learn to tolerate it eventually.

I managed to reach level 7 and since I talk to every single person in FF games, I spent over an hour (I think?) just talking to everyone in Gridania before I even had my first combat XD. I quickly attempted a lv11ish tree at lv3, was fun, but had to run away :(

I noticed that questing is significantely faster than solo-grinding regular mobs. Since I want to learn every single story aspect of the game, I intend to do all quests, but being a bit overleveled was a bit weird.  The dialogue from both quest and non-quest often helped painting a picture about how people currently feel and live in Gridania, so it was appriciated.

Bit dissappointed that there weren't any hidden goodies behind the circular houses, I literally ran circle-wise around each circular house in Gridania.

On the musicside, I like FF XIV's version of the classic FF prelude. Haven't really found yet other music that I truly enjoy in the game. Not too worried though. Nobuo Oematsu is behind quite much FF XIV's soundtrack, right?

Unlike Path of Exile, I really intend to focus on the story+atmosphere rather than the min-maxing aspect. About the min-maxing though: some of the stats are a bit too convolute; like for instance when I cast my Lancer's parry buff, the parry stat in my Lancer's character info does not increase. I refuse to consult any wiki when it comes to FF games, so I'll just figure out the underlying math behind every stat as I play more.

I do wonder if there is any way to remove the radar.

Tbh, this game supports grinding in parties and I feel that's what CNJ's should look towards doing.

    Favorite MMO: Vanilla WoW
    Currently playing: GW2, EVE
    Excited for: Wildstar, maybe?

Yeah, first time I came around that quest, I noticed in my Journal that I had many quests undone, so I finished some then when my quest log looked a bit cleaner, I realized that none of the remaining ones gave lv5 pants as reward. I knew I could have missed some new quests in North Shroud, but I was too lazy to travel there so I bought from the nearby merchant :P.

Pretty sure I was missing the lev 5 pants as well.

Probably intentional, because then I found the guy that sells them and saw "oh, I can buy all the stuff here and there's crafting gear too"

The game is ok, but it hasn't got the staying factor.
It is not much different from Rift except that it has a subscription fee.
I am not seeing it working on a long term basis.
If it goes F2P though it might do well, it would be definetly the best F2P game out there.

Highly doubt it's going to f2p... unless you mean f2p as in b2p and that'd make more since. This sort of game fits that kind of payment method more.

While I'm having fun with this game it honestly doesn't offer anything to me that I can't get from a free to play game, it's just a lot more polished with a Final Fantasy twist. Maybe it gets better after you leave your initial starting area but so far I don't have a desire to pay monthly for it. Right now I'll stick to TSW and keep looking out for news/updates/livestreams when it actually releases.
