Unfortunately this bug has appeared to have completely obliterated most players ability to play their character (mine included). If they can not fix the cause of this they will likely be forced to wipe the progress we made. This is the doomsday bug.
Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing. PS3
This is by far the silliest post I've seen here. Why the hell would the wipe everyone just because a small handful could not log on in a Beta? Don't be silly all your life. Never go full retard.

I don't think so - if they can't fix the cause of it they won't have a game at all, but they can fix the cause of it. Some CS types over on the beta forums laid out some likely possibilities for what this was and some possible routes to fixing it, none of which require a wipe, at most a server reset.
If anything, SE might apologize with some free playtime, like an extra beta day.
You are unable to play, it doesn't mean that other players have found a way to cheat their way up to the top. It was clearly stated that unless some game breaking exploit was found during beta, data will not be wiped.

They already reset the servers and it fixed nothing

^ This.
Not getting to play an OPEN BETA, does not some how equal "this must be wiped!"
The only reason they'd wipe it is if there was a game breaking exploit, which there wasn't.

If peoples LEGACY characters are lost it isnt some no big deal fuck them deal.

Where did you claim that a legacy character was "lost"
Define "lost"
Also, if character data was "lost" that wouldn't be a game breaking exploit, it would just involve them reimporting the character data.

They did not reset the servers. Players who were playing since before this maintenance and didn't log out are still playing. They did data center maintenance, not server mainenance, which, btw, as far as we know, is still happening, because there has been no word of it ending, even though we are past the expected time.

Just logged out of the game (sorry). They are doing a hotfix for both NA/EU and Japan servers as we speak. Maybe that will fix it.
I wasn't belittling your problem (I know I would be mad myself) but to state that it warrants a full wipe is silly.

I am someone who has been effected by the 3102 error after spending a good chunk of my day getting my character to level 15. What I've done, to get my fix, is made a character on a Japan server so I can at least play. I don't figure they'll get this 3102 error figured out by the time open beta is over, so I'm just hopeful that come headstart on the 24th, I'll be able to play my character.
If not, 15 levels isn't that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. Now had I got them to level 40 or 50, I might be a bit more anxious but seeing how they capped everyone at level 20, it's really nothing I can't achieve in a days time. I'm just glad it's happening now during Open Beta so they can hopefully find a fix before the game launches and hopefully nobody else will have to deal with it.
It does stink but really it's not the end of the world and it's nothing we can't easily recover from. I guess it's sort of a blessing they capped us at level 20 so we couldn't get to high of a level in case something like this happened.
If this is the one where your stuck in duty finder (red instance box overhead) I have it too. Picked it up when 3 of us using duty finder got booted as the event started, stuck in party too. Forums are closed so I'm not sure if this is 3102.

I still don't see why it would lead to a wipe. It's 2-3 days at most that you'll miss assuming they don't get it fixed today. When they said game breaking they meant like item duping and getting a lot more exp/gil than you're supposed to from things.

it's 2013.
and yeah, silly fear mongering OP. there's no reason for them to wipe over this issue. character data has nothing to do with them being stuck in between servers (essentially).

That sounds like 90000, the other main problematic error. For 3102, you can't log in to any character on your account at all because the game claims your character is still is in in the game world and not fully logged out (but it just keeps saying that and you never get back in).

I still do not see why would they data wipe simply because there´s a log-in / server issue.
Just because a number of players are not able to log back into the game and it´s pretty much obvious there is a log-in/server issue it does not mean everyone´s data needs to be erased.
They simply need to fix the bug that makes the server believe people did never log off and that´s that.
And even if some character´s data was truly lost of corrupted:
-If it´s a legacy player their data is backed up so it´s just a matter of restoring it
-If it´s a "regular" player they simply lost a day, they simply remake the char-
So in the end , as i said, there´s no need to erase everyone all over just cause a bunch of people got an error.
Furthermore "So many the forum crashed" is very subjective considering the forum has been up and down, getting crashed and on maintenance pretty much for a couple days before the beta even started.
This is getting posted so much I'm now assuming it's either people trolling or people that want the servers wiped because they fell behind in levels/haven't played yet.
There hasn't been a single MMO made with any decent amount of players that didn't have problems early on with server stability, people unable to login, game crashes etc. None of it has anything to do with character data, as I'm sure everyone knows too.
I am one of the unlucky people with this problem as well.
From what I can gather from reading about those that got it, it seems to be a problem that happened when the servers went down as people were zoning.
So those players who were just logged in and playing normally are fine, but people that were zoning into another area when it happened were unlucky enough to have the server think their character is still logged in, even if it's been 10+ hours later.

Not suffering from 3102 but i hope they wipe it.
and honesty i would rather they take their time to fixes these major issues if neccesary delay the launch date.early access as well.
I don't care about a wipe or whatever.. I just want the problem fixed.
