Character Transfers?

in Final Fantasy XIV

So I was wondering if anyone has heard any sort of information on whether character transfers will be allowed come launch, if they'll cost anything or if you only get so many for free?

Like so many people, I was affected by the Error 3102 late last night and can't get back in on the NA server I was playing on. My plan today is to hop on a Japanese server and play all day to get my Final Fantasy fix and to get a particular class to level 20 before open beta is over.

My hope is that, come headstart, I'll be able to move that character over to an NA server preferably for free since I'm not given much choice right now as to having to play on a Japanese server.

    No plans or announcements on that. 

    Don't waste your time playing on a japanese server if you don't plan on staying.

    My best bet is on that Square will offer them for free for a limited time if they start doing server merges. Otherwise they will just follow the same model as pretty much any other game  and charge for transfer for a fee of 15-25USD.
