for casual end game content yes, for hardcore end game content no. thats the only official statement I remember.

 

my guess is what he meant is normal version of instances can be used in duty finder, the extreme 8man versions you can not or you should not. in any case, the game is very close to release so we will know for sure soon.

They haven't expanded on this much apart from leveling dungeons and Crystal Tower (24 man raid) being accessible in the Duty Finder.  They haven't said anything about the Hard/Extreme modes for the Primal fights nor the first true endgame dungeon, Bahamut's Labyrinth.  (it's called something else, don't remember the name used)

The fact that it'll work for any content for groups of greater than 4 people is pretty neat, even if it doesn't work for all of it.
