Hi I have a question about whether to get this on the PS3 or PC. I'm currently leaning towards to the PS3 one because my graphics card sucks and my monitor can support only up to 1080p. My first question is, how well will the game play if my processor is a quad-core AMD 2.4 ghz, 8 gb ram, and my graphics card is an AMD Radeon HD 5570 or on a MacBook Air, 1.7 ghz i5, 4 gb ram, and an Intel HD 3000 (I know terrible graphics cards...) and how will it compare to the PS3 version? Second, for anyone that has tried the PS3 beta, how are performance issues such as latency, etc?

That rig has a much better gpu then the OP has. Don't buy the pc version, it likely won't even start. If it does it will run horribly. Stick with PS3 if you must play it. And there's no way the PS4 will have graphical prowess compared to the 7870, maybe a 7850. After further optimization a few years down the line it may get up to a 7870.
a 5570 is well below the minimum requirements for the game, get the PS3 version
Uh, because it is better hardware. Same reason the min req for this game on AMD, the HD4770 is better than the HD5570.
Because it is. Of course it's older tech and uses 3x more power, but regardless it still has more raw processing power.
Any chance you could spend a few bucks on a moderately better video card? Then you could play it on PC. I have the game set up on an old PC with my TV and it's on pretty low settings, and still looks awesome - much better than PS3. The textures are way sharper than the PS3 even on low settings. I guess if you don't have an extra bit of money to improve the vid card, but it could be worth the extra few bucks.
Having said that, the game does run fine on the PS3. It's still the same game, just... blurrier.
Well if you can wait for the PS4 but can't wait to play FF14 until then, buy the PS3 version.
Doesn't the text get blurry when playing on the TV ? The chatbox especially.
What was your score with the benchmark?

PS3 plays at 720p, if you can get anything higher than 5-6k on the benchmark even at 1280x720 it will be the best choice.
I am a pc gamer and with your setup, even I would strongly recommend buying a PS3 version. Lots of my guildies are playing on PS3 and it plays amazing.
You will enjoy the game on PS3, since you know for sure that it was well tested for that hardware and specifically set up to work smooth on it, while your PC is around minimal requirements, meaning, you will probably have random stutter and problems all the time, ruining your enjoyment and immersion.
Get PS3 version.

One thing to keep in mind:
Buying one version now doesn't lock you out of getting the other version later on. It will cost you another $30 (or whatever the price is at the time), but your same account & subscription will work fine on both platforms.
I'm not even sure, but there's a chance that having the PS3 version will let you log into the PC version if you happen to have it downloaded from the P4 beta (or torrent...)
So if you got the PS3 version now, you wouldn't be stuck with it forever if you got a better PC later on; and conversely, if you got the PC version now and decided it wasn't playing well enough, you could pick up the PS3 version and run it in the mean time.
*edit*
And the suggestions to run the benchmark (on 720p full screen, with low detail settings) - do that on both of your machines you have available now, it may surprise you and actually run decently. This game doesn't need solid 60fps with all the eyecandy to be really enjoyable. I just tried it on my rig, and the graphics still look ~very~ good, even with everything turned off or to minimum, it's just a question of if one your rigs can get a high enough benchmark score to make it worthwhile.
I know I ran 1.0 on a GT320m (mac mini), and 1.0's graphic engine was much less optimized than ARR's is. The game ran (poorly), but well enough to do gathering and soloing, but doing anything complicated or grouping was out of the question, it lagged too badly. I'm not exactly sure how a 320M stacks up to either of your available computers, nor have I run the ARR benchmark on that computer (I don't have Bootcamp on it any longer).
I think you should try to find out, are PS3 owners able to play also PS4 version, or will they need to re-purchase the game when upgrading from PS3.
FF XIV is confirmed to be released on PS4, and ZAM wrote about it and PS3 version on July:
"Square Enix is currently talking to Sony Computer Entertainment to ensure that players who purchase the PS3 version of the game will be able to smoothly transition their game accounts to the PS4 version when it's released next year. As for whether that means you'll just download the PS4 client and be done with it or it means you need to purchase a PS4 version to keep playing, we'll have to wait until more information is available.", source: http://ffxiv.zam.com/story.html?story=32545
If purchasing PS3 version would mean you wouldn't need to re-purchase on PS4, then you should definitely buy PS3 version. But it looks like the information isn't released yet.
