For me :
I'll keep this part short.... My intentions are to play a healer so I picked a Conjurer as my starting class. I love grouping and had played a healer in many mmos. I'm a little intimated as I fear that my dungeon groups would be extreme experts already, but I'm not sure, only time will tell.
I created my first level 1 Conjurer and as expected I landed in the starting city of Gridania. Looking things over I found that the UI and movement ( wsad ) was all standard thank God, but still things were confusing because of the layout. Using all the settings given was somewhat distracting for about three levels until I changed everything to my liking. Anyway, I belonged to a larger Guild but decided to play on my own until I got at least a basic grasp of the game.
The tutorial area is set up good, and flowed nicely. I was greeted with my first story quest to find the binding point, find the market and find my training Guild. The first two took about two minutes and then off to find my Training Guild that sent me on a few chores and told me to come back at level 5. I somehow acquired a few quest to kill some squirrels and bugs and man I'll tell ya, the starter areas were packed wth people. I started with only one ability and got another every two levels. Soon I was level 5 and My Conjurer Guild quest giver sent me to North Shroud to study the earth element. After a nice video clip and a few small task I was sent beck to my trainer and was told to come back at level 10.
At this point only being a level 5 It seemed like I was left on my own with no guidance. I looked over a few city quest and they just seemed generic so I ventured out on my own and this was ok because I needed a little alone time to study the map, re organize my ablities and just to get a feel of my power and lmitations. After working my way to a little outpost in Central Shroud, and now ready for more quest, they seemed to be in short supply ( maybe one or two ) anyway I did them only to soon find I had nothing to do. After the fact when Bata was over I realized that One was my story quest. I never realized I had a Story quest chain AND a Class quest chain.
At this point I was about a level 6 and just killed things, finding a few short quest here and their and knocking off some kills in my hunters log. All this was no big deal I was having a blast.
At level 10 my Conjurer Guild trainer sent me to East Shroud. This was a level 10 to 20 area and found it much harder, now things are attacking and combat slowed down a lot. When I found my Wind quest giver in the East Shroud he sent me to an instanced area to fight some wind elementals that kicked my butt. After two attempts I gave up and found an outpost and binded there. Quest were very hard for me in this new found area, but looking around I was the only level 10 in that zone so I guess I can't complain too much. So at level 11 I tryied and failed at killing the Elimetlest for my class quest again, and that bothered me. I hope I'm not too weak with my level 5 gear I had from a previous quest or if my class is just weak, or just me......Now this is where I ended bata, I need to play bad, I have to develop a strategy I have to re check my stats. I need to kick some elementals ass !
The anticipation of playing again is stronger now than before. I have several goals, I've seen someplace on the net that a few abilities can be taken from other classes like a Level 4 ability from a Lancer "Keen Flurry" used for dungeons and other class abilities that can help me solo my Conjurer. At level 11 I'm so corious about finding the Air Ship so I can venture out, but I guess that comes available at level 15 of my story quest. At level 30 I can start on making my Arcanist to eventually make a White mage so I can be a kick ass healer for groups. I also have to level other classes so I can be a kick ass monk...Just so much I need to do.
Soooo....Can we please have some better stories and Stratigies....I'm sure you have better ones then me

most of my posts are just my opinions they are not facts,it is the same for you too.
Well lol, I have a pretty funny story from phase 3 me and two friends I made along with a random we ended up grouping with a few times were running Haukke Manor for the first time we were heading into the basement down the wooden walkway trying to be careful not to draw too much aggro when I accidentally fell off of the edge and drew aggro from every single enemy in the area I instantly just screamed "Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun!!!!!!!!!!!" into the party chat as I started running up the walkway with probably 20 enemies on my tail our tank who was one of the friends I had made was awesome and essentially said "I'll steal your aggro you three just run as far as you can until they become unaggressive. So I continue to run then noticed it was only me and our healer I asked our 2nd DPS where he was and he replied he was going to go help our tank I told him "That's suicide." and that we were told to just go he responds with essentially "I didn't see that we'll be fine." about 10 seconds later he died and then about 20 seconds after that our tank died. X D
So total fail on my part =P
Similar thing happened before that where we accidentally drew too much aggro simply going through the halls and damn do the enemies hold aggression for a long ass time in Haukke Manor we ended up running from the far end of the Manor all the way near the front before we stopped being chased our 2nd dps died about half way through the chase but he was quickly revived by me on our way back.
So all in all we had a pretty entertaining first run through Haukke Manor. LMAO
We ended up running it about 8 more times that night with no issues. We also got the damn shield drop off the boss every single time....
A lot of the quests when completed open up other quests from other NPCs so do not skip quests. I found that quests were plentiful and never ran out and was very happy with the game so far. I have no idea what it is about this game but I have not had a game hold my attention like this in a long time and it is not even doing anything new. It must be the whole package how it just draws you into the world and keep you from logging off.
I have no cool beta tales like the guy above me all I can say is I'm looking forward to collecting some soon. I intend to play a conjurer and gladiator and pick up white mage and paladin as my jobs .I am going to be very group orientated and take up carpentry, armoring, alchemy and weaving. Also botany, fishing and mining.
I took Conjurer and later will be a White Mage also because i love to group, but I hope everyone else does not know everything but me. I would also like to be a Monk too.
I once aggro'd a bomb to try to blow up a slime. Unfortunately, I forgot that bombs have an AoE explosion radius.
/the end
LOL yep I saw that happen a few times.
I have another story from the first Night of Phase 3 some of you may remember or had heard about the horrible lines we had to physically form because instances were glitched and only one character could be in at once. Well anyways I was doing the level 4 story quest I believe its called Chasing Shadows the one where you first meet Yda and Papalymo. Well anyways Coeurl luckily had a very smooth line flowing aside from the occasional douche screwing it all up for like 5 minutes before finally forcing their way in or giving up. So anyways I got in line and after 2hrs of waiting it was finally my turn I go to enter the instance and it just freezes after my character examines the sword the game is still running fine around me I can even talk but I can't do anything else so I ask the line if anyone would let me cut when I relog thankfully a nice girl agreed. So I am able to relog and get back in the girl kept her promise and allowed me to cut so after another 20min+ wait it is my turn again and this time the game disconnects on me..... I ended up saying screw it and just did the last 3 or so side quests I had and then rage quit for the night. LMAO
I have such great luck. Anyways the game was patched early in the morning and the next day I was able to finish the quest just sucked having 2.5hrs wasted for nothing.
Anyone else go through this on the first day/night of Phase 3?
I finally decided on a name: Shirak Kuposan. Shirak is the magic word that Raistlin used to make the Staff of the Magus give light, so I think it translates loosely to "Let there be light", which is also the very first magic spell cast in the christian mythos. And Kuposan because the moogle called me Kupo so kuposan means Mr Kupo.
Then I chose Elezen as a race. I was going back and forth between that and Miquote, but everyone else is playing Miquote so I decided to go Elezen. Plus they are taller.
Then I think Ive decided on archer as a class. Tried monk, THM, and arc, but I like the ability to keep on the move.
On professions Im for sure going carpentry and leatherworking, but I might also do weaver. They're all valuable to my classes, but Im not sure I can do 3 at a time plus botany.
My story is like everyone else's, had a blast in beta. Went from a doubting Thomas to fan boy pretty much on the spot.
As far as my plan. Going slow. taking my time and savoring the experience. I am going to try each class and stick with the one that best suits me. I will then turn my focus on crafting. Once I have my primary class figured out, I will attempt to level the associated crafts and gathering skills simultaneously. I really don't care if it takes months. I love being able to craft what I need in my MMO.
