Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

What genius took away mouse clicking!

Over the many years that mmo's have been out, all have gone with the click and watch fighting. Nearly everyone i talk to about MMO or RPG'S in general all love the diablo 2 system of fighting. It keeps you alert and it makes you feel more involved instead of spectating. I don't see the game developers logic in saying that it is excessive mouse clicking? Either way you will be clicking a lot wether your clicking for an actual attack or to use your skills. Most people excessivly click their mouse trying to spam their skills or specials in various mmo's. I really think a MMO needs to go with what people love, if we want to click our mouses thousands of times a fight then so be it.

So do any of you miss the diablo system of click and attack? I would have liked to see guild wars take this feature and make it optional at least.

Nope. Worst system ever. In other games, you can run while selecting enemies and do other things while moving. In Diablo 2, you have to stop moving if you want to look at your inventory or anything. I'd rather spectate than click my mouse thousands of times.

Who says thats what people love?

The MMORPG's Ive played I always ues hot keys. Playing a WHM in FFXI you always had to be on the ball. Clicking mouse pressing keys for macros you made. Even when you were figting you really wernt just sitting and doing nothing. You hade skill chains to time and Abilities to use. Blm even had magic bursts. I never got bored while fighting.

There is a MMORPG that lets you excessively press a mouse button to attack. It's called RYL: Path of the Emperor. At least that's what I think you're talking about 'cause there are plenty of MMORPGs that use a "Point-and-Click" means of moving your character.

Hell no! Why would you want to inflict that pain to your finger?

Also you need to type if you want to chat...a bit difficult trying to type with one hand and spamclick with the other.

I'd have to agree that clicking every time you want to attack would take it's toll on your fingers/wrist.

If you like a game like that Xiah has option to click. faster the click= faster attack, but found myself just allowing game to do the work.

And like in EQ my bard needed constant clicking for songs, "can you say carpal tunnel syndrome?" image

Is that directed to me? I know there are hotkeys, but if you want to look at your skills/inventory or anything like that while trying to move around, you can't really do that.

My fingers are fine with excessive clicking. I think either system is good depending on the gameplay. In a more shooter oriented MMO like SWG i got bored just watching the laser shoot instead of aiming and clicking the fire button manually. I can agree with what your saying, i'm just pointing out that diablo 2 was a lot of fun with it's hack and slash action/ mouse clicking.

if anything we need to move past that system.

i think we need a more active/ action type combat system like age of conan is proposing.

More games put out without games evolving kills the industry. look at the first crash of the game market, due to atari and all the other formerly great companies lack of innovation.

    we dont want another crash.

Maybe the MMOG companies didn't want to get sued for RSI issues. Diablo's combat system, while cute, was a sure fire way to develop hand and wrist injuries if you played alot.

The adventure is in the journey itself.
