1.0 PC service and new PS3...how to merge?

spankybusspankybus Member UncommonPosts: 1,367

Hey folks,

been looking for an answer to this everywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The wife and I are 1.0 players, not legacy status though. Anyroad, she wants the ability to play on PC and PS3, same toon on either...just sometimes one system is more available than the other.

she did this in Beta, and it created two separate 'services' ...she could play her 1.0 toon on the PC but not the PS3!

Because she preordered the ps3 version, she gets early access. My question is...will it let her link her 1.0 'service to both PC and PS3? And if so, how? Is it automatic or will she have to actively do this?

its insanely confusing that they separated them in the first place.

UPDATE: The PS3 start-up for early access took care of itself as far as which service account to link it to...it asks you to choose during the installation process and lists all relevant details for each service account, making it easy to see which one is your old 1.0 acct.

to be clear, a service account is what square calls the service for a game. This is not to be confused with your square Enix account, which holds all service accounts. The confusion came from SE treating beta for PC and PS3 as two separate service accounts, vice one service account with the ability to play on both PC and PS3.

I really love their games....but man does SE SUCK at logistics...so much unnecessary silliness and semantics.

ohnwell, hope this helps anyone in a similar circumstance.

From my understanding, you have to use the PS3 key on the Square Enix account with the Windows key associated with it. Having one of each key on the account will allow play on either one. Try logging in and checking the services tab at this link, from what I understand:

    http://www.square-enix.com/na/account/

I have a 1.0 account non legacy as well, but I gave up on PS3 play and gave my account to a friend to use for PC. I just bought my own PC key for early access goodies, etc. Sorry if my info doesn't help much, but that's what it sounded like to me when I was researching.

When you put the key onto the Square Enix account, it should give you early access for both if I'm not mistaken.

Same game different servers and thats the way its always been with mmo's on both pc and ps3 and xbox they all have different servers so you can not play on any but where you make the account for. So you can have an account on PS3 but you can't play the PC version with out owning it and you characters are locked by system cause as I said each system has separate servers and there not linked in anyway.

This is wrong. Both PC and PS3 version have the exact same servers, meaning players on the PS3 can play with players on the PC as long as they choose the same server.

If you connect a PS3 copy of FFXIV and a PC copy to the same Square Enix account you can play the same characters on both PC and PS3.

    Just to clear things up!

Please do not put out incorrect information such as this.  If you do not know, let someone who does answer the questions.  Servers are not divided by the system you play on in FFXIV.  I have played my current Legacy account in beta on both my PC and my PS3.

It may have been a beta-only thing, but it counted the PC and PS3 services separately, on the same account. She couldn't p,ay her PC toons on the PS3 and  vise versa.
