Haha!  Well ty for the support.  I personally think that tanking is harder, responsibility wise as well as micro managing.  I can mosey into every basic instance without any knowledge of boss mechanics, and just watch health bars and heal the ones missing 1/4 or more of their total...in order of most lost to least.  The 2.5 gcd makes this really simple as I can't really do much spamming anyway.  Hopefully the health regen spell is off the GCD!

Healers take flak for sure...but you can't argue with the truth.  When the aftermath of a fight gets broken down rarely is it a healer's fault...unless they're just not healing while they check their email. haha

Healer here as well and I agree - I'd rather heal than tank any day of the week. Just because tanks have such unrealistic expectations set for them by everyone else, I guess. Any instance you do, you're expected to already know all the mechanics by heart and outgear the place too. Not to mention there is some bizarre social expectation that you'll be the 'leader', as if we needed one. I'll just play my whack-a-mole in the back row and enjoy the sights tyvm.

That said, please don't anyone roll a tank unless you're actually going to do what needs to be done to learn how to be a good one, not just because you get instant duty finder queues. I'd rather see 10,000 half-decent summoners running around than that many cock-sure, belligerent, healer-abusing tanks. Thanks.

Also I'd much rather heal a good GLD/Paladin when group damage-taken mattered - just sayin.

    Why choose?

    I am rolling EVERYTHING.

Quite a few jobs require a level 15 or 30 in conjurer.

Most conjurers are just a means to an end..

    IE Paladins.....

Who need 15 Conjurer* and 30 Gladiator to become a Paladin.

I get it, just be a good tank, not that easy,

Not what I said - I said commit yourself to learning and make your best attempts. I did say I didn't think it was easy; but I'm infinitely more forgiving of a tank who makes mistakes but is apologetic about it and clearly is trying to do learn than I am of a tank who acts like the rest of the group is just holding him back, or doesn't know what he's doing but pompously acts like he does.

Erm, every Conjurer, along with every other class is just a means to an end, namely jobs. Not sure what your point is...

On paper reading about everything I was really looking forward to conj and then alter whm. After lvling conj to 20 in beta I can assure I will not be lvling it anymore as soon as I kill Ifrit and get GC access tomorrow.

I will be going back to my roots which is tanking. Was a champion in DAoC, PLD and nin in XI, and a hell knight in L2. I think I'll be rolling a maruader as soon as I can tomorrow.

The Op was saying there are too many casters and that he's going to make a tank and so should others. He then cites a Paladin.

In order to be a Paladin you have to be at least a level 15 Conjurer.

IOW all the conjurers he is seeing does not = a plethora of non-tanks necessarily..it could mean too many Paladins.

Ah, I see what your thought process was now; I didn't follow because the OP said 'Summoners' (even though he was probably referring to Arcanists in the beta). Nevermind then.
