Well the Xbox 360 and PS3 run on DX9. Some games like the first Crysis ran on DX10. But when Windows 7 came out in 2009, all games were running on DX11. Including Crysis 2 and Crysis 3. We've got a whole slew of next-gen games running on DX11.
I was wondering if they're going to do that with FFXIV: ARR.

Any graphical, audio, or gameplay restrictions not seen in other mmos but found in FFXIV can be blamed on one thing.

PS3
Has it been confirmed that that's when the dx 11 client releases. Because just because it's on the ps4 then doesn't mean it'll run dx11.
My FFXIV ARR referral code for new EU accounts: 5JPF7ZQ3

The PS4 version isn't going to be available at the launch of the PS4.
Yeah the PS4 is releasing in Nov, but not ARR. Did you watch any of the trailers or live dev chats, both say ARR on PS4 is 2014, no date given yet.
And yes the DX11 client is confirmed for both PC and PS4 when the PS4 ver launches. Actually I wouldn't doubt it already being ready but SE are waiting on the PS4 ver to give the PC players an even more superior ver. Long before the PS4 was being considered I do believe I read Yoshi saying it was going to be released for PC shortly after launch, but obviously no more.
I just hope they discontinue updating the PS3 ver after the PS4 ver launches. Give the PS3 ppl a free upgrade to PS4 if they purchase the system, that way the PC ver isn't held back for the next decade like FFXI was!
With nearly half the worlds PC's still limited to Direct x9 and the PS3 only able to do the same, im not sure that the advent of the PS4 will necessarily change things, maybe if it was opengl, or something that isnt limited by OS's, afaik Nvidia ATI etc, support opengl as easily as they do directx
kind of hate how microsoft refuse to update older OS's to the newer directx versions tbh, it may be a ploy to get people onto the latest OS, but if the latest OS is a lemon then it doesnt exactly advance the case for direct x either, and with windows 8 being the only version able to use 11.1 and everyone and his dog avoiding 8 like the plague (which is hillarious btw!) then 11.1 is unlikely to ever see any support. Sometimes i think it would be better for games developers to concentrate on using opengl anyway, though im not sure how that would affect consoles ?
Good example as to why Console games should be separate from PC games.
I haven't seen the issue with it yet personally. The only thing that minoraly annoys me about it is the loading screens. Beyond that it's nice to have more people around .
only the minority is using a keyboard for the ps3. on average, ps3 users will definitely be more silent than pc users.
