I would like to know if anyone still plays L2. I mean I hear so many bad reviews yet so many people play it what is up that? Anyway I still play and I am a diehard fan of it.

It's not that bad of a game but theres free servers out there with 1000+ people on at peeks
Yeah I play it! It's a great game!
And a response to the free servers...they are illegal! Don't play! Plus you don't get cool events like the new scrabble event we just had, and no new chronicle updates unless they are very very buggy.
Lots of reviews are old, the game is great!
Alright good to see there are still some L2 fans. People spend so much time dissing it, yet most of them don't get past level 30, which is when the real fun begins.

The polite word is "Private Server", with sometimes 4000+ players.
I can't blame people for going on the private servers, they boost the exp so you don't have to spend 10 hours wacking rabbits to level.
I guess you don't really know anything about private servers. They are perfectly legal. NCSoft knows about them. You want to know why? Because they use the old version of the game. Either C1 or C2. While if you pay to play you get C3 and tech support along with the in game petition feature and other such stuff.
As to if they game is good or not, that's an opinion really. I don't much care for it becuase it is very repatative. No real quests, just hack and wack all day long until you get a new level, got some money, but better stuff, then repeat over and over again. Unless you are in a high level clan that does seiges and wars against other clans its not much fun.
Takes the average person about 3-4 weeks to get to level 20 maybe longer
Not every one can be on 16 hours a day if they have a job and kids.
I had a level 44 Prophet and a level 34 Dwarf scavanger 22 Human wizard
I played since open beta till Chronicle 1
Then came back for a month for Chronicle 2 when a friend bought me a gift card for my birthday
I had heard the "fun" begins around level 20 when you get your first choice in classes and new skills
If it hasn't happened by 30 then you just wasted about 2 months of payments
I wish they would make an effort to really clean up the farmers, ebayers, and botters...
The PvP is kinda odd, if you happen to be purple some mean person will run up and gank you for the hell of it. If some one goes red, its no big deal if they are the right class. A DD can effectively kill just about any one quickly and then run off before people come to stop him or log off.
It wouldn't be an issue if you didn't lose so much exp...
Also my dragon was killed, level 38 dragon, worked hard to get it good gear and 3 levels...some one popped it once and the dragon dropped 500,000 weapon 500,000 armor and a ton of food the grabbed it and ran off.
Then my dragon was level 37 after one death...thats losing 100% exp per death, which was changed but later...
Maybe if the main staple of their developement was in america these issues would be handled, but its not, its in Korea.
The reason I still check in on this game and the reason I still visit the Lineage 2 related boards, is because I did play this game, and did have some fun.
If they make a few good changes, I would play it again, maybe even convince some of my friends to come back.
I heard in Chronicle 3 If you Go Red (pk some one) you no longer drop gear if you die...
Which will mean every one will be a threat at any time with out worry of loses...
First and foremost, private servers are illegal! During the Darkmist chat with NCsoft officials, someone asked the question about free servers. NCsoft responded that they ARE illegal. Don't believe me...go to the official Lineage 2 site and look at the Darkmyst chat they posted there!
Second, this game is not for everyone. First of all I just started playing 2 months ago and whomever thinks it is too hard to lvl is doing something really really wrong. IMO, if this game was any easier It would be like WoW and I would be bored with it within 2 months.
Another note on private servers, they are extreamely buggy, can be shut down at anytime...so all the work you put into your character is GONE...because they didn't have enough money to keep the server going or they just decided to not do it anymore. Private Servers are ran by normal ppl with everyday lives that have networking experience...they are not a company so I find these servers are a waste of time...sorry!
I really hate how everyone disses this game because they say it is too hard or there are bots..ect. ect.
Well there wouldn't be bots if ppl reported them and just didn't say...OMG there are bots I quit! I have reported 5 bots within 2 weeks 3 of them were banned.
Every game has bots, you type in lineage 2 on ebay you can buy adena, you type in WoW, EQ, EQII...ect you can buy in game currency. 98% of this currency is generated by bots...so don't give people that bull. L2 may have a lot of bots, but who cares report them and they will be gone (plus NCsoft is cracking down)!
Go ahead waste your time on a free server that is buggy, unstable, could be wiped at any moment, usually no working seiges, still C1 (which is like freakin beta). You don't have to play the game, people don't try it long enough. Plus the game is more about Clans and friends...if you don't have either of these then it WILL really suck.
*Just an opinion of a noob, that finds this game better or equal to most mmo's!

I bought the retail collectors dvd and left the game after a week.
It's ranked as such a popular game because it is international and very popular in foreign regions such as Korea.
Well anyone 50+ playing on the Bartz server give me a shoutout, I'd like to party with some new people

I played this game untell 2 months ago.. i lost interest in it as soon as i played a GW beta.. but i still love the game.. i am curently playing on lineage 2 extreme ( priv server ) and yes it is the best ranked privite server and it still has some bugs! for example.. they had hardware problems and they had to wipe the server today.. and i dont think that ever happened to normal servers.. I am hopinh to return to Lineage2 retail one day.. when i get a job
I stopepd playing about a few months ago when WoW came out. I got to lvl 46/47 I think and got so sick of level grinding and the griefing that I just packed it in. Sadly the game requires a massive ammount of time to play, too many people out there who too are bored to death of the game, and so they go on and grief ppl much lower lvl than themselves.
Got bored of saying good bye to ppl, and decided to quit myself. Another game ruined by its customers.
By really really wrong, you mean, not playing 16 hours a day and and never being pked?
Sure you can get to level 20 in a week, if you have Top NG gear and a little help, but new people don't have the option.

Look, Click, wait repeat, click, wait repeat, down time, click, wait, repeat is not a hard formula, this game is not hard, its just a horrible grind.
I reported over 25 bots my first month of play. None of them were banned, they all still harvested talking island. I reported a guy who was using a bot with a bishop in cruma party I joined. We kicked him he stood in the room, the gm moved him out to run "tests" and never banned him.
They've said they were cracking down on botters since the begining. Yeah...people still complain about them...so guess what.....its not working.

Buggy unstable free server?
Unless you have done it, don't tell people what its like. I've never been on a private server for any game, don't intend to, but then again, I am not the one claiming to know anything about them.
Dude, you like the game, doesn't mean people who don't did something really really really wrong, or are bad at games. This game is wonderful if you are interested in MUD style Dungeon crawls. Not if you are into roleplaying fun.
Im still playing rerolled im a lvl 52 sr now PvP is always fun in this game, im not in a clan atm.
To the person who posted earlier that if you go red in C3 you do not drop stuff . . . this is true . . to a point. You get 5 free PK's without dropping stuff. After 5 you do. Also, no matter how many pk's you have, you still lose exp if someone kills you. Oh, and you can do a quest to lessen your PK amount. But the quest only takes like 7 pk's off your tally . . or something like that.

I got a trial for a month. I got into it for like 2 weeks then realized it was too much of a grind. Honestly, I hate killing the same thing over and over and over and you get the idea. It was also very laggy too though C3 apparently fixes most of the lag issues. You'll love it or hate it.
C3 will fix it a lot! If your in a group, you will get a lot! One of my real life friends was playing the test server, he was getting 3 times as much as he usually does alone, with a person 10 lvls higher and they were killing monsters that my friend usually kills! That is pretty scary.

I just came back to the Kain server after 5 months of WoW.
Level 25 Palus Knight not sure if I'm going Blade-Dancer or Shillien Knight.
But the TEST SERVER has a HUGE difference in how much EXP and GOLD YOU get!
Haven't you read about the test server, the polls to have the same drop and exp ration moved to the live servers?
Honestly its not C3, the Test server is just 10 times the drops 10 times the exp and 10 times the gold.
I suspect its so people can reach higher levels faster, because they want to evaluate through the whole level system from 1 to as far as you get before the next whipe...
C3 is not adding more exp or gold, a little more questing in a dungeon crawl style game...changing the pk rules a little...
Not like people couldn't PK before and not worry about dropping any thing, just use a NonGrade dagger and hand your armor to some one in you clan that you can trust.
That is if you have a PvP build character.
