Release up to this point...

Early-Access up to this point has been about as bad as 80% of all the other mmo releases I've played.  Tons of server problems, I've personally been unable to login for about 50% of the times I've attempted to.  Today has been the worst by far.

 

Can't post anything on the 'official forums' because everyone is fighting with each other over the server problems, with both extremes being quite vocal - you have the typical "They better compensate or refund my product or I'm going to sue" and then the other "Early access is a gift", "You should have known before you purchased early access that this would happen" "blah blah blah".

 Overall if I were to rate release between 1- 10 with a 1 being Vanguard SoH release and 10 being perfect (something I've yet to see) I'd give FFARR a 5...The game itself seems fun, but I've only actually been able to play it for a couple hours, for the most part server stability has kept most NA players off..

 

What I don't understand, and maybe never will, is how similar the problems nearly every mmo I've played at release is. login issues, server crashes, etc.  I don't understand why this is constantly a problem...hmfff...

    It's constantly a problem because the tech behind it isn't magic.  Hammer a nail the wrong way enough times and it breaks. People think it's easy to get this whole launch thing right and it isn't. It's the hardest part about making these kind of games.

    I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone call it easy, nor did I.

    But the problems are fairly consistent with releases.

    Just for the sheer fact I have been pretty unable to play all weekend, I'd give it a three.  Vanguard ranks as my all time worst still.

    On the outside the problems seem to be the same over and over again, but that's just how it looks from the outside.  It is not true for what is really happening, and that is why almost everyone fails at it. I don't  think everyone here thinks it's as easy as flipping a switch, but they really have no idea how this stuff actually works.
