This has to be the most polished and best MMO (pre) launch ever!

So far the only problem i had are a few emergency maintenance windows and a login queue. Something that i expected as every MMO release with massive amounts of players trying to connect will cause issues that are extremely hard to prevent in advance.

The amount of polish this game has beats every other MMO out there, even the ones released for more than a year.

1. NO Missing, Not working, Skills or abilities

2. NO Broken Quests or Missions

3. NO Missing or not working classes or issues with the character creation

4. NO Broken Auction House

5. NO Broken UI, bad translations

6. NO Server crashes or client crashes

7. NO Stuck, glitched, falling through world

8. NO Graphical bugs

So there you have it, all i hear is some bitching about server congestion. If that is really your only problem during the free early access phase which has now been generously extended then you need to maybe find another hobby.

Enjoy the game, i know i will.

And yet people are still complaining like crazy. It's almost hiserical.

I enjoy the game when I'm actually able to get on. Got on yesterday for 10 min, then maintenance. After that I kept getting the 1017 (Server Full try again later) message. I'm just concerned about launch. Will they be able to do something for the servers except extremely limit the number of people able to log onto the NA/EU servers? I hope so. I wouldn't object to a server transfer from my legacy server. =)

    Err....

    1) The skills do work, so they get my kudos there.

    2) There WERE broken quests, mostly connected to the issues with the duty finder.

    3) See 1)

    4) Haven't used, no comment

    5) There ARE bad translations, although there aren't many nor do they substantially interfere with gameplay.

    6) There have been several server crashes and a ton of network instability.

    7) That has happened as well, but SE had the foresight to include a return feature.

    8) Not sure what you mean here, but there is stutter at times.

Well not sure if it falls under graphical bug, but I still can't play in full screen mode. I lose my mouse cursor every time. =/

I mostly agree with the OP with some minor comments.

    1. True.

    2. Mostly true. I did have one non-game-breaking issue where I was given a level 20 quest at level 15 and I managed to finish it at my low level but to return it, I HAD to be level 20. So I'm still waiting to return that quest.

    3. True.

    4. True.

    5. True about flawless UI. Did see one minor translation mishap but it was only once and it was very minor (side-quest as well).

    6. I haven't heard of server crashes apart from "planned" downtimes. Haven't heard of any client crashes whatsoever. Game works great in alt-tabbed mode as well. Overall performance is superb.

    7. True

    8. True

Check that your gamepad isn't connected. It's most probably in game settings.

I personally take a polished game with a  few server related birthing issues over another barely beta release with tons of issues on top of the lauch server issues like so many have been in the past.

I think we both agree that this is temporary and that they will fix these issues before they actually going to charge anyone for the game or officially launch it. Once this is sorted out you have an extremely polished game waiting for you with a ton of content that will have you confused what to do next.

I can look past these issues because i know they are not going to be permanent.

Did not think about that. Since it is a legacy character, I did not get the option to choose keyboard and mouse over controller. Maybe they are both active.  Will try and give it a shot. TYVM! =)

While I agree that the game is very polished, I think two thirds of the things you listed should be a given by any commercially released MMO in 2013.

Okay so I noticed that they extended early access til the 29th. Um does the game still not come out on the 27th or am I missing something?

No it just means early access people have an extended grace period to register their full cdkeys. A lot of MMOs do this.

There was never a perfect launch

There wont ever be a perfect launch

Load on servers with current tech and software will always cause problems

Remember that GW2 from Anet not to long ago had major problems with their auction house who was offline for weeks.

Overflow cuase major disconnections etc etc, and we called it a good launch :)

FF ARR is doing ok, give it some time let the dev's fix what aint working as it should.

Might take days or weeks depending on the problems, but just accept mmo's will always have problems :)

Since I apparently didn't qualify for early access, I can only state this from an observer's perspective. People that I follow that have actually gotten in to play (apparently the minority) have said mostly good things about the game. Although, let's be frank - with all of the time they've had to re-do this game, they have no excuse to be unpolished at this point.

If in 1982 we played with the current mentality, we would have burned down all the pac man games since the red ghost was clearly OP. Instead we just got better at the game.

I'd rather have small bugs in the game than congestion issues that keep you from even playing.

Name some recent ones that extended early access like this? TSW - no; GW2 - no; SWTOR - no; TERA - no. Senden - please back what you say up.

This is a re-launch since ver. 1 was so bad.

All the server hiccups give me pause. That is not a good sign.

I wish people GL with enjoy this game - it just seems like more of the same ol' usual MMO stuff wrapped in an Anime setting.

To my understanding the game still launches on the 27th.  But, pre-orders don't start using their free 30 days until the 29th instead of the 27th now.

I have to agree, it is pretty impressive.

The login/server/queue/duty finder stuff messing up is definitely pissing me off but fortunately that's the kind of stuff you know's going to be fixed.

Not like gameplaly mechanics and features where everyone has to throw a fit on the forums for a year and things don't change until 90% of the populace unsubs.

Wrong, SWTOR did. That was the last MMO I was a part of the launch and I remember them giving early access players two-three days extra to add their cdkeys.

The game is launching tomorrow.  The extension of the pre-order early access phase simply means that the early access people are getting two extra "free" days before their subs kick in, because of the substantial play disruptions during the weekend two days of early access.  Seems fair to me.

WOW - one out of all the MMO's released. Based on what I have seen this game ranks with D3 for a release - kind of MEH.

How can it be the best and the worst launch at the same time? head hurting... In all seriousness, I would expect there to be login issues, but since this is basically a rerelease I am torn.
  • ichihaifuichihaifu Member UncommonPosts: 280

    Oh but what is this?

I thought this game was perfect on the pre launch? But what is this indeed? Players cant get past menu screens!

This game is perfect...when it all works...

Server congestion isn't just the problem, it's not being able to actually progress when you are in game. Hopefully with the recent patches it's fixed, and not just "fixed" like we've been told from prior patches.
