Final Fantasy XIV : ARR - Guide to making a good pvp game

Ok, like probably none of you.I am only playing this for 2 reasons. One. I am integrating my girlfriend into gaming.  I get to play more, she likes to make cute characters and in general is cute to watch her get frustrated when her carbuncle dies. Anyway onto why i want to play this game instead of letting her and i play my 2 copies of gw2 that i stopped using 2 months after launch.     2nd reason? : Game has all the potentials to make roaming/open world PVP  comeback since daoc... Name another roaming pvp game released since daoc?  (serious question?) vanilla wow maybe?

Background :  Daoc Andred/Palomides etc.. Vet   Archimonde-Wow vanilla etc.. etc.. Camelot Unchained Internal Tester (january)

1.  The arena battles pvp system. This pvp is fine, it will take away from the "frontline" population. But that's ok as long as the best way to min/max your pvp is not through arena's 4v4 etc..   You can't have a instanced pvp zone that has a better risk/reward than open pvp, or people will do the last resistance for most gain .. 4v4 = instant match fights.  You can do this separately but it cannot have anything to do with "frontline pvp"

2. So far from what we've heard about frontline, it sounds good. Keep it simple. Keeps/Towers control/Loss etc..     Death needs to be a consequence, whether it's a debuff, or a simple long run back.      Swiftsong Combined with Deep sleep etc.... All the hallmarks to open world frontline RVR battles are there. If the maps are well made and laid out, in a manner that discourages zerging for the min/maxers it will be successful .

Summary. FFXIV has all the trademark skills and abilities including CC, and speed, and pbaoe also.. To make this game while a pve game.. the potential to be a PVP game that has limitless possibilities. Here's hoping they create a shocker out of all of us, especially people like myself who despise pve.

There is no "open world" pvp in this game. The last one that I remember to have this is probably AoW and Tera. This, just like GW2 and ESO has RVR pvp in a very specific area.

I don't expect this game's pvp to be that great. I really hope they don't spend much time on it either, it's mainly a pve game.
