I think pandaren where a great choice for the east asian themed world, just as tauren fit in very well with the native american theme. And trolls with the caribean voodoo theme..
people complaining about the Pandaren never understood what made WoW such a great game.
I agree, the Pandaren are fine. The monk class is a great concept too, and quite well done.
For me, the worst parts of Pandaria are the complete dumbing down of character development (I want my real talent trees back!) and the quite linear and boring questing from 85 to 90 after the first character you run through.
Actually i think they should leave it as is... Every class having 3 and druids 4 specialisations
and then in the next expansion add a deep AA system that allows for true specialisation depth and inclass diversity.. Maybe call it the hero system instead of AA system, and finally make a vanilla promise come true.

I have agreed with all your points about Pandaran since the expansion was announced...however...
I must defend my love for my main, my blood elf. The Sin'Dorei lore is worth everything to me. I love how the Blood Elves tie in so closely to the Forsaken.
So why is everyone so whiny and upset? And irrational? And just....stupid over this? It's an acceptable race, moreso than Draeni or Worgen....
And personally I'd rather take a pandaren any day as opposed to a Blood Elf so pretty and obsessed with their makeup and diet :P
Anyways....So what's with the whining and trying to use them as an excuse about why WoW is so horrid?
Ask that from peeps who got sacked by blizzard when these cool things were hyped.
About 600 of them.
And most likely more to follow.
Do all other game development companies retain all their staff after the project is completed?
Nope....Most every game once completed fires non all essential staff unless they're lucky to get shifted to a new project.
It's the business. But some keyboard warriors will find anything to complain and hate on.
Haters gonna hate.
Agreed. I'd say that the language used ("fires") is probably stronger then it really is. These "employees" were likely contracts that were left to expire when the project was completed. So it's not even a firing. Many contractors in the IT field work for companies beyond the one they are contracted to do work for. So even after being released from the WoW project they were on, they may still have been pulling in a paycheck. This system I'm describing is precisely how my office works with contractors.
Now these folks have a sparkling blurb on their resumes which will help them land another job. I don't know what the job market is like in the video game field, but from my outside perspective it looks like it's lively albeit with considerable turnover.
So people seem to try and use the Pandaren constantly as an excuse and I can't help but wonder why? It just seems like inane whining and jumping aboard bandwagons..
The Pandaren are an established race in Warcraft Lore, they were in Warcraft 3 and they existed before Kung Fu Panda...Which a lot of people seem to compare it to.....
The Pandaren serve as a great analogy to Chinese culture, as the Tauren are to Native Americans, and the Trolls are to Native/Emmigrated/Bouyan Islander Culture. *snerk* Just like the humans are analogous to boring people! *snerk*
The Pandaren models are exquisite, with amazing texturing given the graphical capabilities of the WoW engine. Their models and rigging is amazing, and the texture layer is incredibly detailed...Each blade of fur and all that....It looks great, especially when coupled with the extensive animations and facial expressions in emotes and elsewise.
And the culture and all that represented is just highly Westernized Wuxia, with a bit of Drunken Monk/Martial arts lore slathered over it....Which was established quite awhile ago in Warcraft 3 with the whole Pandaren Brewmaster thing....
So why is everyone so whiny and upset? And irrational? And just....stupid over this? It's an acceptable race, moreso than Draeni or Worgen....

Ever since vanilla WOW players were screaming to add pandaren in game at least as npc race, blizzard kept saying they were planning something big with poandaren. Then Pandaren were to be alliance race in TBC expansion but because of protest from china govt. blizzard dropped it. after that players created a petition to blizzard to revert their decision, that petition was signed by more than a million players but blizzard did not revert the decision but again said they were false rumor and pandaren are being worked on with massive impact. fast forward to MoP expansion, pandaren are in game and people started bitching why pandaren are here and WoW is now for kiddies who love kung fu panda!!! even players who have been playing since launch started bitching that pandaren were never part of warcraft lore!!! ask these people if they ever heard of a game named "warcraft : the rpg", i don't think anyone would say they know anything about the game. that game was suppose to be a prelude to WoW and story start right where the horde storyline "founding of durotar" finished in frozen throne. chen stormstout were to be a major player in the game but for some reason it was dropped like "starcraft " ghost", instead they released a book name "warcraft rpg book" where chen stormstout was mentioned as one of the key figure in founding durotar and pandaren were added as "mysterious race". the horde campaign "founding of durotar" itslef had some info about pandaren(told by chen). still these "expert WoW" players keep saying pandaren were april's fool joke. they are so right, i mean admiral proudmoore was a april's fool major character in warcraft lore and his murder was also a april's fool joke, right? right?

It wasn't so much the pandas I dislike but the fact they were a shared faction and the whole Chinese/Asian theme. I have no interest in that fantasy theme, have never managed to get into any mmo of that style. I just have a preference for western medieval/fantasy. Though I also prefer classic western fantasy creatures (think lotr) dwarfs, orcs, trolls, goblins, elves etc. Talking pandas don't really fit into that.

After creating my first panda there is no way back, they have the best annimations and more detailed graphics then the older races.
On top of that they fit well with a shaman..
