IMPORTANT: Ratings Reset

Hey guys,

A number of you have brought up that we should probably reset the game's user ratings due to the fact that ARR is essentially a whole new game. We've discussed this and decided that we will go ahead and reset the ratings soon. In the meantime, I would suggest holding back on submitting a rating for the game as I am unsure if we'll be able to preserve ratings after a certain cut-off point at this time.

It's not a new game - it's the same one with 3 more years of development.

If you're going to exonerate the earlier game's fiasco, I recommend that ALL games have their ratings reset at the 3 year mark.

It has a whole new engine.  It's a new game basically.

Considering the changes to this game are so drastic that the graphics and the storyline isn't even the same anymore, I think your doing the right thing.  100% thumbs up.

 

On top of it, if you are seeing drastic changes in the ratings of the old FFXIV and the new, I think its  only fair to reset  the ratings to preserve the accuracy and true feelings of the gamers that refects the new release.

After 3 years, most games undergo "drastic" changes, add systems, classes, content, etc.

So, why should other games that had bad launches be saddled with residual bad scores from those launches, while FFXIV gets a pass?

Who cares?  Reset it, don't reset it., it doesn't matter.  They just called attention to a rating system on a forum that has been flaming the game all week.  What do you think is going to happen?

The only things that're the same from FFXIV 1.0 and ARR are the starting town (and I'm not even 100% sure they're the same), the races, and the base jobs.  Everything else was redone from the ground up with a whole new engine as stated before.  I don't know of many -- if any -- MMOs that have gone through such a drastic change.

ah.. the 5.1 was given for the 1.0 one.. WHY havent they placed that review somwhere else.. this is a new game/new release and thus cannot be based on old reviews
