While I was in beta 4 and didn't not get to play after lvl 4 due to being locked out the entire weekend with the 3102 error, then early access was pretty much a no go for me as well. Since launch I have been able to get on in a decent time after work and have been having an enjoyable experience. Now I also had an enjoyable experience lvling up in SWTOR....
Speaking on the account issues people have, I for one had no problem, why? Because I read what I was supposed to do and was very careful due to reading about people applying the wrong code to the wrong account etc. etc.
I feel as if you take your time setting up your account you shouldn't have any problems.
man -i read this article last night, and its so dead on!!! best article ive read here in a long time!
the going back to your account and losing access to it was dead on!!!!
i owned the first CE ff14 and when i decided to get the 19.99 upgrade -it didn't recognize my account, the auto email was epic failure! and took me a few trials to actually get it working -to find no new upgrade available.
anyhoot- wiht all this hooplah goin on with this game- ive lost total interest.
is square enix east run? or west-if its west, they need a huge rehaul!

yeah but for the one month and done club, this is a major chunk of their total playtime. /tinyviolin
Completely agree - I think they need to extend people's subscriptions as a token towards the issue, other MMORPG's have done it before and that will tackle some of the bad feelings toward Square Enix. The 1017 issue is horrific, I'd happily sit in a queue of thousands, if at least I knew I was moving forward slowly but surely, not being even able to get into the queue is massively frustrating.

Yeah, the first couple weeks will be like this then it will smooth out and people will play and enjoy the game.
But for the people that dislike the game the stories of the bad launch will grow over time like a legendary fishing outing.
Look at WoW, people are now saying its launch problems lasted for a year and a half.
The problems WoW had did last about a year and a half. Some of my family and friends played and I remember us saying things like "Cannot believe with all that money Blizzard makes after all this time they still cannot get these problems fixed!!!"
So yeah, the problems lasted at least a year or a bit longer.
Yoshi-P the savior of the genre. I mean even if you don't like this game people love him I think :P. Hopefully other companies will follow suit and find more people like him.
The core problem at the start was on neglecting US and EU market. Server quantity for that regions are clearly not enough, but that's going to change. The second problem with 1017 error is broken server login queue system - you don't develop MMO games if you can't build it and make that simple thing work.
So it's a two sided coin - while you are trying to login - you hate this game, but when you are actually playing it - you love it... It's almost like second coming of EverQuest 2 in case of game mechanics. And that's a compliment.
Article is already out of date, they just released a patch yesterday that introduces a queue system to log-in albeit it's a bit lacking on the refresh, but it's there now.
The issue with articles like this is that they don't seem to be updated with any new or relevant information, then the community (most of which have never actually touched the game) try and back it up when they've not even seen it, they are just echoing the writer.
Articles like this just come around and make lasting scuffs on games and services people are actively working to fix. As good a game as FFXIV is can you guys REALLY not hold off on critiques of a game or service until at least 2 weeks of release pass? You say you can hardly put the game down and call it great, yet create an article the day of release about services or servers being busy to the point that you turn several people away (when it's not even as bad as you state).
Pretty sure we all knew it was going to happen. Top the sale charts, cross platforms, no region lock. the first weekend was packed full with EVERYONE trying to play, so all this was normal. And it's all fixed now, well at least on the server i play. Not getting world is full anymore and if i'm in a queue it's pretty fast.
Wow for people to complain about Mog Station, just... wow. I mean, it doesn't take rocket science to figure out the account settings tab is where you set up the subscription. Are people seriously that dense? As for PlayOnline, that too was not difficult. You signed into PlayOnline, went to your account, and selected the payment. Today SE is using a separate site to handle FFXI subs and FFXIV subs. It honestly is no different then how SOE sets up subs for EQ2 and such. Man people seriously whine about the dumbest things. Seriously? The game is bad because you don't know how to read account tabs and don't know how to put in your payment information unless someone else does it for you?
And as far as launch, yeah it was bad but only because 100's of thousands of people were all trying to get on the servers all at the same time. It has gotten a lot better and they have already accommodated their error by giving out free days and plans to increase server space at the NA/EU Data Centers. Honestly, this game has been launched with so much polish, I don't think I've ran into a single bug yet. Sure there's a typo here and there, but honestly, for a game to launch with as many features and content at launch, it's unheard of. The game is amazing, the story is awesome. I honestly was surprised with the changes and I had my doubts because I hated 1.0. I recommend giving this game a try, it's a lot of fun and hard to put down. Servers are only full because so many people are playing the dang thing.
I played never winter, and you want to see a disaster and poor service? Wheres your review about how they treated everyone in Neverwinter. But this game is all bad service? Give me a break. Thats the saddest thing I ever heard, Its all being fixed 9/2-9/4 and your complaining because it did not act in a matter of hours? You dint take into consideration on how many games were sold compared to game capacity? Why would you treat FFXIV which has better service then PWE ever had, alot worse then PWE?

Their expectations were for less than 200k players? Do you think that is reasonable?

It's quite shameful.
Playing: FFXIV
Future: wishing for SWG 2, World of Warcraft Classic
Played: Most current and extinct MMO's - 18 Years in....
Interesting Fact - I own 27 Tarantula's
