It seems I'm only one NOT excited and have been disappointed with Empire Total War, Napolean and Shogun 2.
I'll stick with my MODDABLE Rome Total War and Medieval 2 Total War. Without having to buy pre-order DLC and countless other DLC that will come out.
Creative Assembly turned into another EA. They removed modding...made the campaign map unmoddable (or super hard to do)...so no Third Age Total War (best medieval 2 mod ever, and in my top 3 mods/games)...no stainless steel (amazing realistic medieval mod)...nothing.
CA stopped supporting modding at the very same time they started doing tons of DLC. Coincidence? Nope.

I would love the total war games if they could make a good AI for the battlefield combat. Those chumps are so easy to beat. I understand good AI would be very difficult to make for these games, but that's their product and it's a hard sell with sorry AI.
Total War games are maybe my fave series of games ever. I have every one and still play them all. Plus the really active moding community makes sure every individual game always has something that gives it a fresh spin. Personal faves are the Warhammer and Game Of Thrones mods for Medieval 2: Total war. Though I am not a big fan of how you can't unlock the factions anymore and have to buy them as DLC on Shogun 2 and looking like it will be the same for Rome 2. Yeah I am looking forward to this game a great deal in answer to your question OP. Also looking forward to seeing the imminent Prince Of Macedon videos on Y-Tube and reading the after action reports on the Total War Center forums................I'm a total war nerd...........Mums going to be very proud.

Ever tried Darth mods? They're specifically made to address this problem, sadly, he will not be making one for TW:R 2. Shogun 2 was his last.

I only recently got Steam and picked up Empire, Napoleon, and Shogun 2 at the last summer sale. I was stuck in a very long and exclusive MMORPG spree, so I needed to catch up on my other favorites titles. I was hugely disappointed with all 3 of those games. I'm still wondering how the f*ck the same company who made M2TW made Empire, who then did an EA move of trying to fix a game by releasing a new one, and then launched another title that (iirc) may have more DLC than actual content. I was at least expecting Empire to be in decent shape after 4 years, but it was still plagued with problems.
I have no interest in Rome 2 till its cheap, but am watching their Warhammer title like a hawk.
Wizardry and, if I pretend that Ascension never happened, Ultima.

It seems many fans suddenly don't be such huge fans anymore of total war which was just released:P
Elder Scroll mainly becouse of Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is my favorite series ES V: Skyrim i enjoy now for more then 700hundrend hours becouse of MODS only offcorse on high end PC(i dont own any console, pure PC GAMER here).
The Witcher 2 come close but this can change with third installment with TW 3 also going OPEN WORLD and it prolly also come to NEXUS for awesome MODS.
1.Elder Scrolls(only solo games not interested in mmo from zenimax) 2.Bioshock series(not rpg but i love those games) 3.The Witcher series.
This list can change in 2014 with TW3 if it live up to my expectations i think it will be.
