duty finder waiting time

As a dps class i'm on average looking at 30+mins wait for any duty finder queue...multiple language choice or multiple dungeon choice do not seem to shorten wait at all..... And this is at launch... When servers are fully populated..... In 3 months time i'll be potentially looking at 1hr+ queue.....
Maybe i should reroll healer... But still.... This is a fail...

    Whats so fail about it?

You expect the entire game to roll a DPS class and then developers to make a tank or healer appear out of thin air for you?

Give it time, you can be every class so once everyone is done with their DPS they can roll heals/tank just the same.

Oh and its MUCH easier to take the reigns yourself and make a party...being in a guild helps too since most people are in the same level range.

What you want is a Tank if you feel like you need to switch class roles.  Healers still take about 10-25 minutes to get a party.  Tanks are pretty much instant queue.

I'd imagine with the server issues, those able to get in are just more inclined to play DPS roles and then "reserve" their spot on the server, which means one less Tank.

    *chuckles*

Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

It already is an hour queue for dps on Coeurl last time I played, while tanks were getting in around 5-10 minutes and my healer gets in around 5-10 seconds. I thought cross server queues fixed this in most MMOs. image

lack tank and healers. tis can be proplem later, least in trial dutys, every new char (not job) do tis only 1 time.

My point is i don't see this time decreasing in the future. And frankly 1hr queue is absurd..
On top of this i sometimes find myself not able/willing to do story quest as they are often instanced and you can't start a dungeon if you are queing at the same time.
Probably better way to do it would have been to have 5 men dungeons with 3 dps.
Also the fact that it's quicker to do dungeons with your guild doesn't change the fact that duty finder is just too long.

It's not really the duty finders fault if most people are rolling DPS. It works just fine, the class / job choices of the people in the game, are the real problem. Do you want dungeon finder to create fake people for you to play with?

Cross-server queues only fix it if there is an excess of the missing class on one of the servers.

What I mean is:  if on every server a dps has to wait 1 hour for a queue then pulling from all the servers will still result in a 1 hour queue.  If a dps has to only wait a minute on 1 server than cross server queues will work somewhat as the queue time balances out.

It has been my experience each server typically has the same mix of character types so cross server really doesn't serve a purpose - although you might see a difference when it isn't prime time if you had - say an Aussie dominated server and you were playing Aussie prime time hours on a North American server.

I can't say I'd lay all the blame on players, for me I typically play DPS characters because they're the only class that looks halfway realistic in most games, in FFXIV as an example I thought about going Gladiator. Problem was the look I had to look forward to swayed my choice away from it. Plate armor is something I can't stand wearing.

Right now I think their constrained server capacity is impacting duty finder speed.

yes, it's cross-server (within a region), but it's also used for everything that is instanced (including solo quests) -- as evidenced by the 90k debacle during P4.

They have mentioned some very specific optimizations in the latest developer letter, hopefully to be implemented next week. I hope at that time we'll see a big turn around in the duty finder speed.

So while there is some disparity between the trinity distribution (tank/healer/dps) - I think a lot of it is hardware/software as well, and no fault of what part of the trinity you happen to have picked.

I would recommend rolling tank .

As a tank and healer que times are fast but as healer it is really boring because all you are doing is spamming 1 heal button on the tanks who usually suck and require a lot of heals to keep alive .

If you do get a good tank which is rare you might get the chance to use stone and aero .

But basically half the time you are the tank as a healer due to bad tanks .  Not much fun . Had more fun as tank .

This would make sense if not for the fact that 100% of the time when I queue up with conjurer loaded, I get a group in the duty finder immediately.

Don't be fooled by healer insta queues before level 30. Healer queues approach 20-30 minutes post 30 (god damned scholars).  Better roll a tank if you want fast queues.  My buddies PLD are instant.

Just what I want, more chances to use Stone... X(

Looking at it by doing the math :

Most mmos have 5 or 6 in a party. FF14 has 4, so each group only needs 2 dps instead of 3 or 4.....So more groups are made in FF14 causing the need for MORE tanks and healers. Infact twice the amount of groups are started that need tanks and healers. So it is the game not the players.

Add to the fact that in this day and age people expect there tanks to be perfect, and if a dungeon is easy, people expect tanks to be fast......I for one will not make one !

I don't expect a perfect tank especially when dps are imperfect making the tanks life hard.  Especially gladiators since they seem to have a harder time holding aggro then marauders on more than one mob.  While glads are amazing and holding aggro on a single mob.
