I saw it coming. I'm sorry guys. Something inside me, let's say instinct, told me that the game release would be a fiasco, and the game itself dead in less than a quarter. The aesthetics are so ugly. The combat system so antiquated, The background so simple. The technology backing it up so lame. Square Enix is one of those companies you love or you dislike deeply. Final Fantasy XIV is clear example of what that company can achieve and could achieve. I can't understand why someone should want to play that game. I prefer WoW, GW 2, EQ 2... almost every game before that game. Even FF 11.
Guys, just chill out and go watch a movie or go for a walk with your girlfriend or go do some gardening, everyday i find that people dont even care about checking whats really happening, Im just a bystander here i dont have the game or try to get on it, but by reading every forum post and columns i just become amazed with some people behaviour.
Imagine you organized a music festival and it pretty much sucked. After that you discuss with the organizers what you guys should do, and after thinking about it you all decide to try do it once again and improve the mistakes you made,so you get a better team and try to formulate a very good festival, you announce how its gonna be, what it will have and so on, with all that and early ticket sales imagine you sell around 100K and you have an estimate that some 150K will arrive from the reactions on the net and the tickets you sold, but from mouth to mouth those people who bought the tickets get really hyped and start saying to their friends: " this is great they will have this and that we can all go together". But since the early tickets sales are over they have to buy the tickets at the entrance, so when the festival opens, you as an organizer feel everything will go well because of the bad festival you did before and all circumstances you believe that 150K number is a good guess.
But when the festival starts the amount of people is much bigger because those mouth to mouth on the last days to friends or the ticket buyers and last people checking the festival the festival got crowded to the roof.
was this the organizers fault? well, think a little they are gonna try again they dont really have the capacity nor they believe they will need space for 350K people and because of their last festival they believe the flow of people will not be much.
And this is what happened to ff14, on the beta there wasnt as many people as there was in the launch of the game and alot of people bought digital copies even after the pre orders, what happened is that they had servers for like 300K people simultaneously with JP and NA/EU and has yoshida said even if JP and NA/EU are different timeline he believes there were around 350K people on at the same time.
They just need to get the extra space and it will be ok, I think sometimes people dont even care to analize what really happened and see the whole story they just want to cry on public internet, and show the world they are really mad something we already realized with the last 100 posts on the internet... They explained and they are fixing it.
They will even let you stay some more days in the music festival without you paying more, so instead of trying to push people and see the concert, dont worry in the next few days the djs and singers who played last week will be there again. So just relax and if you cant play now go do something else. The game will still be there after this problem with the servers are worked out.
Because I work shifts I log in at odd times like 5am in a morning or after midnight. I never have a problem then. Its only when you try to log in a peak times (e.g. late afternoon / evening) when the problems start. So I can sympathize with you guys who can only log in at those times and haven't had much play time so far.
