Up to level 34 the story was amazing, interesting and almost every level you raised opened the doors to more lore, more questions, more mistery and more plot twists and epic battles to be had.
Then lv 35 hits and you are gifted with 6 or 7 levels of "Your princess is in another castle" courier "story" quests with this plot:
-You go to noble A, he denies you, you prove yourself thru quests, you go to noble B...rinse and repeat"
Finally, you do to a fun enough dungeon and recover "your princess" only to find out that "the princess" lacks a component to properly work, so you go for a few more levels of:
-"You go to apprentice A, you get sent to get crystal, its not the one you want, You go to apprentice B...rinse and repeat"
The hell happened to the epic story?
And yes, i have heard later on, near the cap, the story catches up again, but was it really necessary to flood 10 or 12 levels with boring filler "story quests"?

Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:
A. Proven right (if something bad happens)
or
B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)
Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!
Story should have been optional, or given non required rewards or something.
Being FORCED go through it to unlock dungeons and content is making it a chore and I'm starting to just skip through the text.
If I could have just gone through it when I felt like it, I would have done so at a pace where I felt like actually hearing the story on occasions where I was in the mood for story.

So for 34 levels the story is on a completely different scale compared to anything ever witnessed in an MMORPG...
...and at lvl35 it becomes a normal dime-in-a-dozen MMORPG story?
I wish we had a higher standard to meet here, but alas, the standard is the boring as-hell filler quests.
The job quests are still interesting though.
Do you also bitch when you are forced to drive a car in Gran Turismo?
This is an FF MMO, if you don't like it that's no biggie. Just don't act like the game is bad because it's not for you. MMORPG is a large genre, there is room for everything to exist.
Nobody plays an FF game if they are not in a mood for story. Except MMO gamers, they will play them anyway and then bitch about it.
.....I regret to inform you that you've unknowingly boarded the S.S. Asian Grindfest.

Ehh what? LOL! You Level really fast in this game. Come on now!
Even Vanilla WoW was way more grindy and much slower leveling than in this game.
AION for example is the typical Asian grindfest. But FFXIV is actually enjoyable and far from grindy so far.
Yeah.... if you unlock tons of classes on a single char, then you will run out of quests and it will become a tad more grindy.
But for the average gamer that sticks to main class/sub class and then go for it´s specialisation job at lvl30..... this game is far from grindy in my book.
Yeah, I specifically meant if you go for more than three classes on a single character. Which I intend to and have done more or less.....In that case well....Yeah, enjoy grinding and levequest hell. It's not like Lineage II or Vanguard grindy, but it'll be a bit annoying to most people. I don't mind it, but I know some people might...

Incorrect, I'm actually enjoying this game....However I believe it has both faults and pros....Nothing is perfect, flaw is part of character. I don't mind the grindfest that this will become later on, it's a challenge. There are things I do mind however....

Mnnnnnhhhhh, well I like the fact that I can sit and emote properly in game? And that they let me be a giant beefcake with proper rugged facial hair and testicles....rather than some twinky elf bitty that looks 13 and more feminine that my youngest niece.
You mistake my general disdain for all things and failure to commit to unyielding adoration or vehement hate as a dislike for this game. It's alright, but it doesn't get my man juices flowing.
