I still have a copy of the old original notice that I had applied to the beta.  But, thanks to this thread, I applied again just now.  Same info and email.  Nuts

Got in. Even though its a stress test I still want to see in game. I need to see something that tells me this game wont be as horrible as I think it will be. And yes its a stress test and yes I will be stressing the servers.

i got into stress test, downloaded the game...it's past 6pm EST, and it keeps telling me login failed, my username or password is incorrect or inactive at this time?  Anyone else getting this?  My username/password is definitely not incorrect, and the code i entered was definitely for this beta stress test.

Well every stress test they always say we want to hammer the servers to see what the load will be. Guess that is what is happening tonight.

So I decided to sign up again even though I signed up the first time it was made available as well as being entered into the beta pool when I was at PAX East.

Except this time, instead of asking me all sorts of questions including my submitting my system specs, it was just standard name, country, e-mail and that's it.

The little bit you are all talking about right now is NDA breach.

They mailed me an invite, but I couldn't even get as far as the download page. Was this an ESO website stress test?

Just a heads up if you didn't know; if you are a dude age 18-34ish you will most likely be waiting awhile for an invite. My wife has been invited for every test but I have not. There are specific demo's that they have invited and regular gaming dude isn't a demo they are concerned with currently. I am sure that this is not the case 100% of the time if you have computer specs they are interested in testing.

You also need to remember that they have probably haven't even invited 1% of the 3 million that signed up.

I had the same issue and the first sign was that there wasn't any confirmation email. So I tried second time. The same thing. So I tried third time. Nothing again. I contacted their CS to ask WTF is going on. They said that it is a common issue because of some server related malfunctions and the prior relocation of servers. And then they MANUALLY entered my info onto the servers. Would you believe what kind of hassle you have to go through just to have the CHANCE to beta? And all that info is, expectedly, not available to anyone outside of Herpatax.

And when talking about the Stress Tests: this is NOT HOW you DO it! Not by increasing the server load by, idk, 10% and steering right into the Inquisitorial decree. People don't really like Inquisitors and their way of thinking irl. You do it by opening the flood gates and just letting the mob onto the servers. You get good publicity(free ads YAY!), you get WAAAY more accurate stress test results and everyone's happy! But just the fact that so much Red Tape and secrecy is present about ESO should worry us. The Red Tape and the Inquisition are never signs of a good product(hell all cloak n dagger skullduggery reminds of WAR and how they basically shunned talking to their players, let alone hear their wishes-it destroyed WAR, quite expectedly).

And what makes you think they are not going to open the flood gates and let tons of more people in?  What makes you think this is the second to last beta before release?  Red tape?  The game is in CLOSED BETA - not open beta.  Big difference.

Stop crying about not getting an invite.  Stop crying about a mistake that may or may not have happened with their servers recording your account name.  Beta is to help test the game for the developers.  When the game is 2 weeks away, then you can voice a concern like this.  But the game is 6-7 months away so you are just being ridiculous.

The only problem I have with their beta invites is I'm never available to assist during their tiny window of opportunity (I work 2nd shift). Then they have the nerve to spam me with emails asking why I didn't participate...such an impersonal system.

Its a stress test. They purposely overload everything. That would overload authentication servers for login, the servers for playing, etc. Normally in these types of tests, you keep trying, eventually you will get in....for longer than you expect. In fact they may have used software to add even more simulations during play on top of real life folks to even make it more overloaded. That is very common at my work when our Stress and Performance Team wants to achieve certain thresholds and provides a wealth of information for future tests.
