Bad game design isn't the players fault.

How about we punish the developers instead.

Force them to play the crap they produce

You are right, all these problems do contribute to pacing issues and I'm 100% behind you for improving not only the quality of the moment to moment gameplay but of increasing the scaling difficulty of the entire journey as well. Difficulty scaling is probably the MOST important tool in controlling pacing of the game. But unfortunately it still does nothing the curb the huge gaps in wealth that gold farmers can acquire and throw the balance of the economy. So i'm looking towards tinkering the huge gaps in XP differences and gold/loot/items that different players can amass over a daily or weekly period.

Texting while driving and playing MMos for tons of hours on end is a great way to lower the growing population. Its mother natures way.

Tell you right now that botters/Gold farmers wont be bothered by your idea. In fact I'd rather enjoy it. Set up 5 accounts, get the pc's going and head to work, come back and start again 5 dif accounts. Brings back memories lol.

Power leveling wont be stopped by your 10 hour plan. Just pushing them a little harder. Power leveling is supposed to be faster than normal leveling. Hence the name. 10 hours leveling wont equal 10 hours of power leveling.

Health of the players is not your concern or anyone's besides the player. They make the choice to play the game. NOT YOU, OR THE COMPANY. Health is not an issue.

Honestly I don't see this idea working in the slightest. If it did.. it would be a botter/gold farmers paradise depending on the income they can make. Throw out 5 bots for 10 hours and then throw out another 5 once their time it up. I could do that all day long. Wake up, turn the bots on.. go to work, come back switch out the bots. Come back before bed and switch up again.. rinse and repeat. And in all I would spend maybe an hour a day in game just turning bots on.

Only way I see it working is to throw a huge price tag on it and hope the botters/farmers don't decide to try it out. And then with the price damn near no one will want try it.

Punishing everyone for others "jobs" (goldfarmers/bots), and those that like to rush, isn't going to make a good game. Simple as that. Try something else.

Read the thread, we already talked about how we can stop gold farmers from doing that too. That+limiting how long they can play would really put a dent in how much they can farm. Sure they'd still do it, but their impact on the economy would be much less dramatic.

And more important: I know this sounds punishing to the players, but is it REALLY? Whens the last time any of you played more than 70 hours per week? I and some guildies did a few times in 15 years of playing MMO's, but even then it was only like 75-80hours, both me and my guildies passed out on most of those occasions and never would've even gotten that far without copious consumption of MONSTER. If you have different experiences please share, but the only times I've ever done it were miserable and we only did them for World/Server firsts...

Won't read the thread because I can already guess where it goes. No I know.

And no, impact would remain the same. Your blinded by the fact your ideas seem foul proof. but as I said botter wont stop or slow down with this system. It will make it a lot easier, more organized. I see it clearly, maybe because I ran bots before, 12 at a time some days.

And then your idea on limiting items/loot/xp... really? That ship would sink fast than a sack of rocks.

Off to work GL and HF I got a good laugh at of this.

    Back on topic.....

Think the OP is on to something. We could:

Limit grocery shopping to 10 minutes per week.

Watching TV to 17 contiguous minutes per evening.

Reading and posting on MMOrpg.com to 2 minutes per day...

Opps...times up now I have to

Let's party like it is 1863!
