New AMD GPU naming scheme?

All just speculation, but maybe we won't see any HD-9000 series GPUs at all.

Maybe we'll see R9-180's instead.

It follows a convention at least, I don't really have a problem with it, if it turns out to be true. It could just as likely be some internal development scheme and marketing renames it entirely to keep it in line with what we are used to.

Just some interesting news - and perhaps the first trickle of information prediating an almost immenint Volcanic Islands release.

The article also mentions a September reveal - although it doesn't necessarily say launch.

I would like AMD or NVidia actually use a sensical naming convention. This is the second time AMD has reached 9000. Maybe something like generation - Model Ranking. For instance a 10990 would be G10 - M99. Very easy to understand and looks military.

With that said. If they named it the Arrrrrrrrrrrgh 9 - 180. I would not mind.
