Love the game, hate their maintenance windows.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I'm loving the game.  I'm in an awesome FC, the game has just been rock solid for me, zero complaints at all when it comes to in game mechanics.  But their maintenance windows are god awful.  5pm pst to 3am pst?  So your telling 98% of your NA players they can't play during prime time.

And before people start saying JP dev's suck it up.  I'm sorry but that's just shitty customer service.  That would be akin to me running a 5 star resort, but telling people they can't use the restaurants, bars, or pool from noon to midnight once a week.  Even WoW didn't do their Maintenance during EU's prime time for the EU servers.  And they are the kings of poor customer service.

Since when is FF XIV all about NA players? They do global maintenance if I'm not mistaken so either JP, EU or US gets not to play. Deal with it.

I am sorry. But welcome to the world of EU players who had to suck up maintenance windows during our prime time in so many MMOs for years!

WoW is an exception, as Blizzard has an entire studio and division office in Europe with their own staff and even private data centers.

There is basically no other MMO dev house that has that and most of them rent server Space in EU data centers With Maintenance being done remotely overseas.

We had to endure insults by the NA playerbase for years With remarks about how NA players were superior to everyone else and that we just had to suck it up!

I am glad the tables have finally turned and now you guys in NA finally get to experience what we had to endure for all these years.

I guess we can call it Karma?

It's not "shitty customer service" to the rest of the world.  That time is off peak and office hours for their Japanese players. They've been sucking it up for all the other NA-produced games that have maintenance windows during Japanese peak hours. So, yes, you do have to suck it up.

Well, you do have a choice, show your displeasure by canceling your sub and play a MMO that is more considerate of your playing schedule.

Otherwise your option really is to suck it up and go do something else during downtime.

While North American players complaining about exactly what they told Europeans and Asians to suck up and stfu about in recent years is somewhat amusing, I really don't understand why MMO companies seem completely incapable of using rolling maintenance windows if they separate customers by region anyway.

Is what plenty of other globally operating internet services do routinely really too much to ask ?

I find the responses to this issue hilarious.

    "Suck it up"

yawn. really?   How about doing the maint during japane mid day?  that's midnight usa time. So 3-4 hours is really a big deal starting at noon instead of 8am jpn time?  Think of it from europe perspective. It's now 3-4-5 am in the morning, again it works for everyone. But instead "suck it up"

heh  I will refrain from going on ,because of the   Crazy overmoderated forums we have here and my last 7 day ban becomes indefinite.

It's going to kill you not to play the game every night isn't it?

It's no fun when the tables are turned.  It's fair just so long as you're not the recipient.

What time is maintenance? I ask because I am thinking about getting this game when the digital download suspension is lifted.

@Will, hell yea suck it up.  That is peak time for someone.  Fact is, they have their people do this crap.  This is obviously a good time for the window.  If you don't like it, and judging by your responses you don't, don't play.  A one night timeout for maint is not going to kill you.  I remember working night shift and constantly being hit by Blizz and their maint cycle.  You didn't see me crying and whining.

@Putts , I still haven't seen confirmation of this so I wouldn't get too excited just yet.
