How do you use the "appearance gear" function?

in Final Fantasy XIV

I must have missed how to use "appearance gear".

All good MMO's have this function built in. I do not see an option yet as i'm still low level.

At what level does the ability to use the visuals of any gear become available?

    I am not seeing this as an option either :/

     

    Is friggin annoying when switching tween battlegear and bikini lol

    As far as I know, it is not in yet. Supposed to be coming in an early patch, if not the first one, along with the barber shop system.

    Only MMO I even know of with a fully function appearance tab is EQ2...so not sure where you got the "all good mmo's have this function" from..

    EQ2 has it so does Rift, DCUO is another one. COH had it. AOC has one ..shall i go on?

    Anyways back to topic. Yes i find it a little weird that they give you summer wear for event without any appearance slots.

    Maybe they don't want People running in Dungeons, FATE's, etc with a bikini as appearance?

    You have plenty of gear sets. So you can create a gearset for appearance and RP purposes.

     

    And seriously. Eventho I love Appearance TAB's. I do hope they restrict it in someway, so we really DO NOT get for example Tanks tanking boss mobs in swimming gear.

    That would be seriously immersion breaking and detract from my enjoyment in the game.

    I am all for appearance Tabs, so as a plate wearing class for example, I can keep a Collection of Nice looking plate armor sets that I can wear as appearance when gearing up and have mismatched pieces of gear.

     

    When it comes to event clothing and other regular casual clothing, I rather have them giving us extra gear set slots, so People can just equip during off combat duties and RP events. :)

    It's something they've said they're planning on adding in one of the patches early on.

    You must not play many good MMORPGs then.

     

    I would argue that some kind of appearance control has become a standard feature for a good MMORPG.

     

    I hope people are right and that such a thing is incoming.

    Premium MMORPGs do not feature built-in cheating via cash for gold pay 2 win. PLAY to win or don't play.

    ah city of heros how I miss you an the ability to completely customize the way I look and not have it reflect my abilities in anyway.

    yes there are other super hero games out there now thzt do it to but city was the first I played like it and still the one I liked the most.

    F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used toimage

    Supposedly it's coming, along with player housing and a bunch of other neat sounding stuff. I'm more anxious about the housing myself. Hopefully it's fairly indepth, and decorating isn't just a fancified wallpapering such as in LOTRO (still fun to hang trophies though).

    Also, I mostly agree with limiting the appearance tab to cities & open world areas. Seeing someone running a dungeon in their skivvies, while on occasion hilarious, definitely gets distracting fairly quick.
