Why is it GW vs WOW?

Me and most my friends now play both games, guild wars is free so theres no real reason to cancel our wow accounts to play it. I actually like having the ability to switch between games when something gets tired or boring. 
Im still trying to figure out why theres such weird anymosity between the two groups, I know most of it is just 14 year old kids trying to get some attention but there are some actual people in there thrownin the flames too. (note: nothing against 14 year old kids, id rather your here flaming then stealing the sterio out of my car....again).
Cant we all just get a bon...er along? Seriously there just games and different enough in nature that you can play both!

I totally agree with you. There´s so much fanaticism going on... but for those going on a tight budget GW seems a much better option then Wow. And at least so far I haven´t met any lvl 20s saying they are bored (not like lvl 60s in Wow....), but Guild Wars is still young.
If I could I would play Everquest 2, Wow, GW, Eve Online and Star Wars... since I can´t I will stick with Guild Wars.

ok who cares if blizzard worked on this. EVERY game is diffrent, why are these people crying, it sais on the damn box, no more hours of exploring, no more camping. well DUH! its gonna be easy, the game is about pvp, strats are still being made and yes, pvp is very skillish and stragetic cause you can only hold 8 spells.
ok, to me it is an mmorpg, who cares if you have to go to town first to make a party, what would be the diffrence if you saw them out side? there are sh*t loads of people in town, you party, have a story, you pvp, what is it missing to be a "TRUE" mmorpg?? nothing. other than exploring and camping, and seeing people outside......but then, if u had all that, it wouldnt be free online would it?
i do hate when people compare it to WoW, but i do to alot, and the people who bad mouth this game should look at it this way. at launch for WoW what did everybody do??? race to lvl 60 and PVP, raid,instance. when you buy GW what do you do? race to 20 and PVP(with MANY game types),instance and i dunno if you can do it yet or even can sometime now or in future...conquer land. so what makes it not a real mmo? why do they have it on this site??? CAUSE IT IS A REAL MMO!!!!. Diablo 2 you cant meet people in towns, you cant do your own quests when on someones server, there is no "REAL" pvp, and you can play it single player. THAT IS WHY DIABLO 2 IS NOT A MMO AND NOT ON THIS SITE! because its not only online and i dont meet thousands of people.
take WoW,--- take away camping and enless and useless exploring. +++ add inventive simple easy quests and henchmen and 4vs4 arena pvp and what you get???? GW!!!!!!!! not can anyone of you who says its a fake, give us the reason plz?? all the DEVS did was take away the stuff that alot of people didnt like and made it playable for both hardcore and casual gamers.
i love wow, i play both, lvl 60 rogue eredar server, also am in a clan who are the first in that server to kill ornixia. so, im no "total noob" to say GW is a true mmo. GW is sopose to be a PVP game. have you guys read the box?? it says.....GUILD......WARS......if you want endless boring exploring,camping with people(outside of towns) to come and join your boredom, play FF11 or EvE online

Not those guys fault that Blizzard's parent company Vidi wants to put out crap while they don't. WoW would have prob been far better if they remained for those of us level 60. But they prob got ignored threatened or stepped on by Vidi and they said up yours were' leaving.
I for one don't blame them after seeing such a beutiful game like WoW goto hell after level 60. (to me raiding via EQ is going to hell since why would anyone leave EQ to do the same damn thing?)

Well, first off to be accurate, I believe what happened was that the people who made guild wars (or atleast a signifigant part of them) came from Blizzard NORTH, which were associated with Blizzard, but a different set of people. The people at Blizzard North made Diablo and Diablo 2, while the people at Regular Blizzard made warcraft/starcraft. That's part of the reason alot of people compare Guild Wars with Diablo. Probably the same people who made ArenaNet and BattleNet.
Anyways, second of all every time I see 'GameX vs GameY ULTIMATER FACEOFF BESTEST NINJA!!' threads, I roll my eyes. I'm totally sick of all these people making it like there's some great death match fight on a message board that will determine the fate of either game for all time.
Back to the real thing. People compare WoW to GW because WoW is the top of the MMO market, so most games are compared to it. A lot of people play it so that's what alot of people know, and its easier to compare an unknown to something you know. However, GW isn't a traditional mmo because it's designed differently. Generally you're right in thinking most of it is childish people who think their game has to be the best and they should flame anything else to make it true.

My own conspiracy theory is, that those people left blizzard because they were signed by Vivendi.
This is a scary publisher, which is normally closing game dev studios and kicks out people.

Well why not? They're both games in the same general genre (arguably) so they are in direct competition with each other for your time and money. Sure, some people are fortunate enough to have the luxury of playing and paying for both games, but some do not. The latter need strong opinions to help them decide which to purchase.
I personally don't have strong feelings about either one. Neither managed to keep me interested for very long.
