Just wondering how many hours of content this game has if you just focus on leveling and skip most of the other parts such as crafting. I just can not imagine how much time some of you are investing in a game in order to level to 50 in less than 3 weeks. Even if the game only has 100 hours of content and you finish it in three weeks that is 33 hours a week, do some of you play like it is your job? I hear a lot of talk about not subbing and I wanted to try this one but not at the current price. I assume in a month or two once the big portion of players leave and the marketing hype has died down I will be able to pick this up for half price. I might just keep looking if the game lacks content. I'm just confused about if the game lacks content or if some of you play it like your life depended on it.

my guild mates who hit 50 in the span from early access to launch took vacation from work for a week or so and slept maybe 3 hrs per night. they only focused on one class and they already planned out the route they would take to powerlvl to 50.
with that said the amount of hours that are in the game depends on what you like to do. do you want to just hit 50? do you want to level multiple classes? do you want to craft/gather? do you want your relic +1 weapon? do you want to do bahamut's coil?
for the most part, people on this forum are playing like their life depends on it. if they say they are just playing casually, that still means they are investing at least 4 hrs per day/7 days per week. if you play it like a normal person this will last you quite a while. My fiancee who only plays maybe 15-20 hrs a week tops is only lvl 25 or so right now. I have a lvl 45 paladin, lvl 50 blacksmith but i pretty much play this game every waking moment i have that I am not at work.
its 29.99 right now, you are not going to see it drop any further for a while, especially with new updates on the horizon. it is doing really well despite what all the people on the forums are saying, i still get stuck in a small queue on my server at night. Also, this is square enix, not some indie company that is desperately trying to get cash to repay their investors so they dont get canned.
Most memorable games: AoC(Tryanny PvP), RIFT, GW, GW2, Ragnarok Online, Aion, FFXI, FFXIV, Secret World, League of Legends (Silver II rank)
The duration of the contect depends on your playstyle.
As for i, i like to follow the quest, enjoy the game, the story line and not powerlvl by spamming fate's ( which imo is the crappiest part of the game)
as stated, if u are enjoying the game and prefer to play more then 1 class ( or just test the class out) lvling all classes will take some time, and then u still have jobs and crafting, the game is filled with content but then again it all depends on the way u play.
The price of the game is probally where it will be. Honsetly the next expansion will probally cost more then the standard game.
THe game atm is highly successfull with most the servers either at capacity or near capacity. Still getting Log-In ques 3 weeks post launch after a server capacity increase. Will see what happens once subs kick in, the population will fall but I do not see it being more then 10-20% of the population currently, the next major content update will determin how many more leave after that.
If you are starting new without leveling any craft and taking 1 job to 50. You probally have around 40-50hrs of content. This is just the trip to 50 on 1 class.
To level your character fully for fighting classes which is a feature of XIV:ARR you are looking at around probally upwards of 500-600hrs. If you add in a crafting and gathering class it is easily another 30-60hrs.
If you add in endgame it is 100s of additional hours per fighting class. (Although this will get grindy... it is one of the big valid complaints of endgame atm... there is not enough variety)
Content wise a new player to the game has nothing to worry about. There is more content in this game for a new player then any other mmo released since WoW easily. Combine that with a large content patch coming in a few months. If you are new and not a 30hr+ a week player you will not finish the content before the new stuff is here... you will not even get close to it.
one combat to 50, no endgame, power leveling and ignoring crafting/gathering and skipping story and text...
probably around 150 hours.
if you are not interested in raiding and or crafting I wouldn't bother unless you just enjoy FF story lines its worth a once through given the game is only $30.
If you are into more than one combat class, crafting and gathering, and like raid endgame... by the time you clear endgame content alone youll be finishing it all up right around the time the major content patch is out.
I consider myself neither casual or particularly hardcore. Having said that there is a lot less than self confessed casual players would like to think. It also depends what you mean by 'content'. Personally I am not prepared to grind leves and fates to raise alternate character skills and am not really interested in raid grinds. I'd guess you could see pretty much everything in a coupe of months playing pretty casually. If you consider raid grinding (for example) content your mileage will probably vary.
