I wonder if this effects mostly NA (US) players or if EU also have the same issue's.
I can't speak for the game now after release but I had no lag during OB3 and have seen very crowed places, but then again I am on a 300Mbit Fiber connection. And I have noticed in the US it seems abit more difficult to get proper ISP's because they seem somewhat behind the EU as far connections go. Which in my opinion "might" be the cause of so many lag complaints.
Not saying it'sall the players fault because as said havn't played the game since release. But I have read about people's ISP's in other topics which to me explains allot especially in game where I read allot about lag but not experiancing it myself. Still it might be the game itself.
Hope you Guy's get it sorted out in what ever way.
Guys the "EU" servers are the same servers as the NA ones which happen to be in Montreal. People that are having issues with their ISP and this game is because the ISP traffic shapes and thinks the game is P2P like torrents.
That said the "built in lag" is the 300ms lag that EVERYONE has due to server checks on your position. This does not become very apparent until you get into later dungeons where you NEED to dodge AOE.
So for positioning you put in your net lag+the 300ms server lag.

I use Comcast and I've been an online gamer with it for years with no problems. Most games my ping is 40ms and I have run tracerts to their servers with no bottlenecks, its just on their end.
or it could be a route to the servers in canada go onto a jap sever and see if you have the same issues and if you dont its your isp i never d/c EVER

I haven't experienced this problem, but it sounds pretty serious. I hope they fix this soon.

Yes, it's possible for you to be ignorant of the issues the other people are going through, might not be happening to your connection.

No word from SE for over three weeks, since the original post.
Is this how they generally communicate with their customers?
I had this same problem in closed beta and was able to fix it by opening up the ports that FFXIV uses.
Here is the link that tells you what ports need to be open. Open all of them but port 80.
