Board games I think would be great if the tablets can talk to each other so that multiple players in the room can play the same game.
Without that the question becomes 'why do I have a tablet to play a board game?'
both android and ios do allow for this
- the ios game center
- google's play game services
I've played Carcassonne against people in the same room, Catan will offering multiplayer soon
some games only support "pass and play" which isnt as much fun (comparable to PC hotseat play)
sometimes the app AI suffices enough to be a standin when your friends are not available
I am thinking how does this bring something to the table that laptops havent had for a decade other than not needing a wifi spot.
The overall question is what does a tablet bring to the table that is fundamentally different from what has been possible in the past or not possible in the laptop world.
Thus far cost, and GPS is all I can think of that is radically different.
Thus multi player GPS games might be of intrest.
Make sense?
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

and portability -- laptops are small but not as convenient
i own many different devices, and beyond PC gaming at home, its the tablets that get used most

It's a sprawling non-linear RPG with exploration and storytelling at its heart.
You should also be able to see at a glance that the 2D graphics of Battleheart have been swapped for 3D in Legacy.
12 playable classes, hundreds of unique skills and pieces of playable equipment.
That may sound like it could lead to a lot of fiddling, but Mika assures us that we'll be employing just a few taps to navigate menus and fight foes with the refined battle system.
The game's format is wonderfully suited to handheld play, since many of the missions are relatively short, giving you a convenient stopping point if you need to put the game away and do something else. At the same time, improving your equipment, increasing your Hunter Rank, and improving the town offer great over-arching goals that keep you coming back.
There are tons of missions and a lot of things to do in the single-player mode. I haven't even mentioned fishing, bug-catching, mining, cooking lunch, combining items, running your Felyne kitchen, playing with a pig, training your assistant, and so on. It's basically Animal Crossing with gobs of violence and skinning your neighbors so you can wear their faces as hats. You could easily spend dozens of hours playing the game on your own, and you probably will. The funny thing is, it's actually just the warm-up for the real show.
Quite a few games have mixed the word game with RPG mechanics. Letter Quest, Word Mage, SpellBounders, among others. Words For Evil is a new addition to the genre, offering the full gamut of RPG aspects such as skill trees, loot, and party members.
After choosing a hero and a level, your character travels automatically, stopping when encountering an enemy, a chest, a trap, or perhaps a healing fountain or a shop to purchase stat buffs and potions. Most of the time, you’ll be engaged in combat, creating words from colored tiles to activate your party members’ skills. An archer may fire two shots in a row, the warrior can grant your party an armor boost; each member has different skills that can be upgraded and unlocked as you level up.
With its diverse array of enemies, numerous heroes to find, loot to collect, Words For Evil is a fun and polished blend of genre elements,
Galaxy Trucker, the award-winning board game by Vlaa?a Chvátil, is landing on your iPad! Build space ships, dodge meteors, and fight off bad guys, all in a quest to be the trucker with the most cosmic credits at the end of the game.
This digital version can be played with up to three other players, either online or on one shared iPad. A turn-based building system designed especially for this app allows pass-and-play or asynchronous online play. You can also play real-time games online using the traditional building method of grabbing stuff and attaching it to your ship as fast as you can.
For solo play, the app offers a dozen AI personalities and a special campaign mode in which new players can learn the game and experienced players can discover new challenges. The non-linear storyline offers hours of trucking fun as you meet quirky characters and explore the Galaxy.
