No, you are not the only one. I got my Dragoon to 42 (42 lancer/ 20 pug/ 25 marauder). I took my time to smell the roses (I was only 42 after 3 weeks) and honestly its a very polished game. But, it really offers nothing new. I feel I get the same exp from this game in Rift and SWTOR. I don't have to pay for those. So, I can't see myself staying in FF14.
You need to realize that when you choose to ignore a major focus of a game, it doesn't mean that part of the game ceases to exist. For a modern MMORPG, the extensive interdependent crafting is new. I mean, would you play GW2 and then pretend that the WvWvW never existed? I mean sure, you may not like it for different reasons, but pretending it doesn't exist is just dishonest.
I think you might of quoted the wrong person, but I tried out all I wanted to in game. I rarely enjoy crafting and this game didn't change that. So, my opinion based on everything other then crafting is still the same. I didn't even bash the game. I said its a good game, just not for me.

shuffled 5 pages, 90% ffxiv threads, and always negative, the only positive post would be agreeing on someone saying negative about the game.

All MMOS are sum of its parts, FFXIV isn't something unique. And i haven't heard about one MMO which was success only on basis of one or two unique features.

I think the part vandal was contending was where you went on to say that none of those dozens and dozens and dozens of MMOs that are based upon the same basic premises of their predecessors but with the addition of one or two unique features went on to be successful. You seem to agree on the composition of features in just about every MMO, but disagree on the success of those MMOs. I'm kind of with vandal here, although I wouldn't be quite as rude about it. Are you really saying no such MMO has been successful? That does sound awfully absurd.
I mean WoW is the ultimate beacon of success in the MMO world, and that took a variety of features previously found in other MMOs and made them more functional, accessible, and fun. Since WoW, several very successful MMOs - like Rift, LotRO, Aion, GW2, and I guess now FFXIV - have used the particular collection of features made transcendantly popular by WoW as the foundation for their own games, and added a few, sometimes several, unique differences to make each game feel somewhat different. This works better for some games than others, but it can't be denied that several such games have been more than successful (including several games I didn't mention.)

You are reading it all wrong. He is trying to say that no MMO is successful on basis of only one or two unique features. MMO need to be overall a solid game. So doesn't matter if crafting in FFXIV is amazing if rest of the game is weak.

What wrong with showing your Fandom/nastalgia? Its a throw back to all the FF fans. IMO shows that SE cares . no different than end game gear atm, DRG 1 looks like DRG 2. I do hope they let us dye and/or have cosmetic tabs...would be very nice ...id love a set of Green DRG armor
