Grand Company - Free Company - Question

I joined a Free Company which is devoted to the Grand Company Immortal Flames. I am joined with the Immortal Flames but as an Arcanist i'm hearing Twin Adder my have been the better way to go, overall though not sure it really matters.

 

I'm grinding out the ranks and once i reach Second Lieutenant i can switch Grand Companies, which i may do, and might do all 3 up to Second Lieutenant as i love to grind stuff like this, lol.

 

So my question is will i be able to stay in this Free Company? and are Free Companies required to pick a GC, as in are there open Free Companies. This is the first FC i joined, it's a big one and loads of great chat I'd hate to leave over this.
