I really want to play the game.
Recently they offer the heroic character, so i thought its a good chance for me to get on the game and catch up. But turn out its not that easy. The game is huge and messy with massive contents and knownledge curve but i determine to learn however i dont know where to start. I need help, i dont know where to go to grind for level. The dungeon finder is not working as i spent 3 hours on it and never find me a group. Ok so i go do some quests but somehow the quests dont give me any experience they only give u faction. So spent 3 hours and didnt get even 1 bar of exp. I called for help in game for 1 hour (i didnt spam) but no one even bother to answer. And also the world seems to be empty i travel around but rarely see anyone around so i can ask. If anyone willing to help outthere pls leave ur name and server ill find out to ask for mentoring.
Thanks in advance!

Did you use your heroic character? if so, hopefully you are on either Antonia Bayle or Freeport server
I would head to Sundered Frontier to learn your class, its meant for level 80. once you learn your class for a hwile and get to 86 or 87 head to destiny of velious zones.
To get to Sudnered frontier, you use a wizard spire

I'm hoping the DOV quests now start at lvl 85 (used to be 86)
here is the DOV quest timeline
http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Great_Divide_Timeline
all DOV gear has been retuned - and will be better than Heroic Character gear
if SOE goofed and did not lower the DOV quest minimums, then i recommend questing in Stonebrunt Highlands

all of this content is free -- except for Eidolon Jungle and Obol Plains

Forget the dungeon finder, the servers are half empty that's why it won't find you any group.
Just grind quests, like in WoW, WAR, Rift, SWTOR etc.................... if you played any of those, it' works the same way.
EQ2 is great if you can play dungeons and Raid, but at the moment the population is not great and finding a group is a quest in itself.
There are many starting zones and all of them are quite good to level (as long as you like questing)
not mentioned on previous grid
Lavastorm has quests for level 80+ too

to anyone new to the game,
I highly recommend spending 15.00 to unlock mercenaries
http://eq2.zam.com/wiki/Mercenaries_%28EQ2%29
the shadowknight merc especially is very decent -- if you want a healing merc, grab the inquisitor
mercs do share your kill experience but you'll killing things so much faster you'll never notice it
mercs no longer share your coin

sigh - seems like SOE threw new players to the wolves
won't be much hand holding until you figure out how to distinguish markers on the player map
any instant 85 gets dumped into Greater Divide and given 1 quest from nearby npc
The Footsteps of Destiny
i read the quest, its not clear to me where to go from reading the quest text
if you open your Map (M key) - you will notice a light blue area to your north west
the light blue is quest related
no other quests are available in DOV because they require at least lvl 86

for new or returned players that chose instant 85
I recommend this:
on DOV docks/big turtle talk the otter npc Stissa, transport to Sinking Sands
for chat dialogue choose Yes, let's be our way
you are now in Sinking Sands, a level 45-55 zone
follow the coastline south to the Druid Ring
click on bush w animated leaves inside Druid Ring to travel to any Druid Ring in the world
if you are Druid (Warden/Fury) your first stop is Darklight Woods, talk to the portal trainer to gain own portal spell
everyone else, including druids, your next stop is the druid ring in Enchanted Lands
in Enchanted Lands, you will see a Wizard spire nearby -- go West to see it , its labeled Ulteran Spire Portal
click on it and choose Stonebrunt Hightlands
fly / ride South West to Matri Dut /Moonfield Hamlet --- tons of npcs with linear questing for you

when you gain level 86 - head back to Greater Divide for DOV questing
