I'm a pretty big MMORPG enthusiast and I find myself at a pretty unique crossroads right now; for the first time since I got into MMORPG's back when I was a teenager with Runescape and later Star Wars Galaxies, I find myself without an MMORPG that I'm into AND without an upcoming title that I'm looking forward to playing. It's a pretty big shock when these types of games have been your biggest hobby for so long and you just can't find one that you seem to even care to look forward to!
The latest game I had been looking forward to was FFXIV: ARR, and I've given it an honest try but for a game of that "generic" formula to interest me at this point, it would have to be practically perfect. Not a fault of the game as much as much as me being a jaded old gamer.
Now I look at the recent future and I just see nothing particularly interesting. Before the end of the year, all that I know of is TES:O, and it's probably way too formulaic to hold my interest so I find it hard to be enthusiastic.
So here I am in October, spending a good portion of the free time that I could be spending doing some good old MMORPG grinding instead reading random stuff on the internet (and don't you dare tell me to go outside!), with no hope for reprieve in sight, at least this year! If I'm not grinding, I'd at least like the solace of knowing that I could soon be grinding in a new game!
So, what are you guys looking forward to? Maybe there's some gems under the rug you've been following that I or others haven't heard of. Do share!

Easily EQ Next. I don't know if the game itself is going to be good but it is actually trying to revolutionize the genre instead of just cloning what is already out there and what is out there is really mediocre at the moment.
But truly, the ONE game that I am really waiting/looking forward to is World of Darkness.
I really hope CCP does it right. I get a little worried about the funds financially because of their occasional wastes of money (Dust514) but hopefully EVE keeps the company going and profitable enough to make a killer WOD game. I will then be content :-). Can't wait!
Also looking forward to checking out Wildstar, even tho its bordering on being a little too silly for me
Currently I'm really looking forward to EQN, Star Citizen and Archeage, however those games sound too good to be true.
I'm also looking forward to ESO because its and Elder Scrolls title, duh!
The latest game I bought was also FFXIV, but it didn't really offer anything new. It's pretty much a combination of WoW, TSW, and GW2.(Yes, I konw it's a cliche to compare new mmos to WoW)
BUT I also bought Darkfall right before FFXIV, which proved to be really great game. It provides so much new experience compared to all the other current mainstream mmo's. Although you basically have to have friends in game, unless you want to get raped.
If you liked SWG, then maybe you could find yourself enjoying Darkfall aswell.
I also started playing MMO's during my early teens with Runescape. After that I started playing Tibia, which I still enjoy.
I find it hard to focus completely on a new mmo, if it lacks enough highly entertaining features in early game. So far I've been able to dedicate myself on Tibia, WoW. And Swtor because of the storyline.
And yes, being a finn I can tell you that outside is way too overrated during this time of year, unless you're going to, or coming back from a bar.
I just pledged to Star Citizen like 20 minutes ago...downloading the hanger thingie right...hence on these forums instead out gaming..
...but Im also looking foward to EqN
No matter how cynical you become, its never enough to keep up - Lily Tomlin
I'm looking quite forward to the D3 expansion, it looks to do for D3 what LoD did for D2 & breathe new life into an already good (but flawed) game.
I'm also eagerly awaiting the first major content update for FFXIV, as I feel that the game's continued success or eventual failure hinges upon Square's ability to deliver quality content & bug fixes / gameplay tweaks on a consistent basis. Plus you know, HOUSING!!
The eventual PC release of Ascend: Hand of Kul is something to look forward to, but until then I'll make due with playing & watching the X360 version move along.
Hearthstone release, so we can get new blood in the game. I'm in the beta and it's an amazing game and the more people that play will make it more fun. Other then that I am only looking forward to the Following:
Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!
Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!
Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!
Packed servers = Failure?
Okay. Sure.
Okay. Sure.
Yeah because a game being forced to shut down and be completely rebuilt is a huge sign of success? Especially when the rebuild gets completely mixed reviews and might not survive itself.
ever quest land mark that is going according to the developers like a full mmo.
shroud of the avatar alpha end of the year, this is my immediate hopefuls.
o and the repopulation looks interesting and Gloria victis.
There is no game I'm looking forward too....unfortunately.
I have been flimflammed .....bamboozled .......and plain lied too..... too many times.
I will believe what I think I see.Right now...I'm not buying smoke and possibilities.
You are not very observant than. You can almost always see the flaws in the hype before a game is released once they start showing the actual videos. Name a game that made a promise that they failed to realize and I can show you why you were wrong to believe the hype.
You undoubtedly have far greater observation skills than myself.I actually thought for example GW2 WvW could rival DAOC.
The game turned into a 24/7 zerg.I didn't know that would happen...and I believed it would be quickly fixed.I was wrong.
SWTOR management made endless promises about pvp and Illum. They touted the x DAOC devs they had on their staff....and look at the abysmal mess and I and many didn't see that coming and the lack of interest or ability to "fix " it.
Soooo...I could write a book about my failure to spot the scam.or the company's simple inability or interest in improving things.
You are right ...I should have seen "the flaws in the hype" of these and many other games who failed to measure up.
Outside? What's that? My last hope is with "The Elder Scrolls Online". I was going to give "Wildstar" a try, but since I found out it will be a pay to play game I wont be playing that. The only other game with even the slightest inerest is "Star Citizen". But I doubt that will be out for a very long time. To be honest, if TESO doesn't live up to my expectations, it just might be my last MMO I ever play. I'm getting really tired of disappointment after disappointment.
In order:
1. EQN
2.Star Citizen
3. TESO
4. Arche Age
5. EQN: Landmark
I'm looking forward to a nice hot cup of tea and a slice of toast.
Also, ESO and The Repopulation.
Also EQ Landmark, but somewhat less than I was a few days ago.
they are trying to revolutionize the genre by mixing features from other games into one... Again.
But yes, it is EQN for me as well because i like the Elder SCrolls + GW2 + minecraft mixture it has
As an OLD GIT, actualy i think i was in a guild with that name , anyway i keep staring at the MMO list and having played every mmo game incl recently WOW (which i swore i would never play), i guess it has to be EQN.
But i will tell you in the past couple of years (SWOTRm gw2, Neverwinter, blah blah blah) have all been fun/ok/ then only one that really made me ENJOY was THE SECRET WORLD.
What put me off was the name, all this secret society rubbish , but to be honest its probarly is the best game that you didnt expect it too be. Give it a go, i think youll be pleasantly surprised. Well at least until something else comes out.
i think on PC right now im only looking forward to EQN and Titanfall.
Everything else im waiting for is on PS4 (Destiny, Division, Killzone, Infamous, watch dogs)
