Was it like this in the beta actually?

I'm playing atm with a lvl 7 Mo/Me and it isn't that fun really. I gotta do a list of boring quests until I can go get into a mission and in the beta I could get into a mission all the time and didn't have to do any quests. The crafting system is a headache actually to me, I have no idea, where to get bolt of cloth and it's hard to make gold since crafting supplies cost 100 gold all the time.

I gotta use henchmen all the time if I'm going outside and that's not really fun. The community is bad also on the Europe server since no one actually speaks English there and it's hard to find a party. Even with henchmen it's hard since they run around like maniacs drawing all the enemies.

Is it like this for you too or is it different?

You may want to try the "America" world in your Edit Account options if you would like your home districts to have more people that speak English.

As for the other part, I'd suggest visiting some fansites for guides on crafting and whatnot if you want some help. http://www.gwonline.net has some great guides.  http://www.guild-hall.net has a lot of people on their forums. Good luck, and hope you have more fun.

You don't have to do the quests to enter the missions.  You can jump back and forth as much as you like.  I'm actually enjoying it more now.

Err.. like the above poster said, you don't have to do those quests.. if you want to get to the next mission, and don't have a quest pointing you there, you can go check a map online, and just run there. Heck.. you don't even have to do a mission to get to the next mission..

    http://www.guildwarsguru.com has an interactive map.

I think maybe you are pre-searing? If so, you can actually quest your way out of there in about 20 minutes.. just get your basic class skills, your basic secondary class skills, talk to sir tydus, do the little mission, go to ascalon city, head to the back side, you'll be at the great northern wall, and that is the first mission. Unlike the last beta you can head there at level one if you want.. just need a secondary class.

Totaly agree with the starter! I find GW boring too (not always) but when i have played like 30 min i get so tired, you dont play very many hours before the game gets boring... Think there is atleast 1 class missing... there is like 5 casters or somthing, and 1 melee...image... so how did GW get better score than wow? here is WoW = maybe unlimited having fun while playing hours... GW = MAX 20!

Um level 40 Hunter here from WoW and I really HATE to tell you but getting to 60 in WoW was wonderful. REALLY wonderful. The moment you hit 60? SLAM! your right back into EverQuest.

WoW IS better than GW. But unless you care for raids raids and oh yeah... raids for something someone will ninja or whine endlessly cause they want that item you got or another person then forget wow after you hit 60.

I really enjoy GW but mainly cause I am not level 20.

I don't know what it will be like at level 20.

Realmreaver formally of EQ, SWG, FFXI and WoW.

OMG I really hate gaming ZEALOTS.  Oh this game is better and Im going to defend this game to the death even though this is a game and it really shouldn't have this big of a impack on my life.  Oh this game is so much better because is just is and Im going to promote this game all the way.

People if you really care for a game sooooo much then keep playing and dont stop playing it to show how much you really care for it.  Im tired of reading post like GW IS THE BEST AND EVERY GAME SUCKS.  Or like the quote I quoted from.

If you really want to show your support for the game dont stop playing it and show them how much this game means to my life.

Now some of you reading this post might think Im defeding some game, but really Im not.  I dont have enough time on my hands to dedicate my life to, and if I did I wouldnt.  Im just speaking up because its really annoying reading a post made by some one whos promoting a game that they are playing on a different discussion room.  If your going to promote a game do it in your own special discussion room dedicated to your game.  So if you love The Saga of Ryzom or any other game, and you think ever other game sucks well do it in that discussion room dedicated to that game please.

Now if you play the game and you have a positive comment or just a negative comment go ahead and say, but dont bash the game and tell us how great this other game because I and probably alot others really dont care how great that game is we just want to talk about how great the game we are playing right now.

As was said before, there's no need to do the quests - you can just do missions like in the beta weekends and buy the skills those quests would've gotten you in later outposts.
As for Bolts of Cloth: use a salvage kit on certain items and it'll salvage out, you can find an incomplete (but continually being updated) list of what salvages into what here (note that most items can salvage into several different craft items, so you have to be lucky sometimes) : http://os.xplonetworks.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=169

Try finding an active Guild, so you can quest with other members.
I've never had any problems finding people to party up with to do missions, as for quests - it's generally best to do those with friends anyway, since random people might not want to do the same quests as you do.

As for people hardly speaking English - that's likely because a majority of english speakers is already near or past ascension - or just ignoring local chat.
Amnoon Oasis is full of english speakers - as are Lion's Arch and Denravi and most of the mission outposts.

I find guildwars fun, I got a few friends to start playing with me, so I'll have someone to talk to/party with for quests. This seems to be the best way of doing it..

I have noticed that its often difficult to get people to help you even with something as simple as partying for 2 minutes to get the resurrection seal.
