Hi, so I had a previous thread about MMORPGs people would recommend in general and was given many options.
I started Rift and it's not bad so far. I love the multitude of quests and small things such as fishing and what not, but I would love a fantasy look that's slightly less realistic? More playful? Hard to explain exactly.
I love the game play and art style of the Legend of Zelda series, particularly Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. I'm also a fan of the Rune Factory series, though I've yet to complete Tides of Destiny.
An MMORPG that combines the two art styles would be awesome, but if not I'd prefer one that leans a bit more towards the Legend of Zelda style as it's more "3D" looking.
I'd even be okay with Final Fantasy type graphics.
Anyway, please recommend your favorite anime/cartoonish MMORPGS that offer a lot of quests and PVE content so that once I reach the cap/endgame I will still have things to do. Thanks!

Perfect World International (PWI) is an oriental fantasy-based MMORPG. It has over-sized weapon graphics like many anime (which many don't like), and a good number of quests. The game levels to 100+, but getting to 60 can be a chore, and few people achieve level 80 without resorting to the cash shop.
The cash shop is probably the best and worst feature of PWI. If you like costumes, you won't find many MMORPGs that offer as many distinct looks for your character. That's the good part. The bad is the numerous hi-level items that are purchased, including XP potions, weapons and armors (many would say this game is pay-to-win). There's lots of in-game focus on the cash shop -- advertisements in chat channels for daily specials, game-sponsored auctions and the like. These can be very annoying. I've played without investing a penny for over a year, but the game doesn't hold my attention. (And bank/bag space is criminally sparse -- do the quests for extra slots ASAP).
The world is a true 3D environment -- and there are creatures in the air to fight. You'll spend a lot of time flying around the world. Every character class gets a form of flight. Even so, travel times can be pretty long, even with relatively good flight item. It's not unusual to spend 30-40 minutes to travel any long distances.
There are loads of things to do in PWI, especially daily quests. The landscape graphics, particularly in some cities, are quite beautiful, especially at higher graphic settings. You will want a very robust graphics card to play this game beyond the minimal settings (cat-shops are everywhere). When I've played, I've found the community to actually be pretty good. If you like reading the quest texts, PWI also contains one of my favorite all-time quests.
Edit to add: If you do choose to pay anything to PWE (the company behind PWI), I would strongly suggest taking precautions, such as finding a brick&mortar store (Walmart, Target, etc.) that sells fixed amount game play cards for PWI. Lots of people who paid electronically had immense problems with the PWE billing systems a few years back.
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
I'd recommend WoW. It's a bit less realistic than Rift, and also has more humor and takes itself a bit less seriously than Rift. If you liked Rift's gameplay, WoW plays quite similarly and might be the right game for you.
EDIT: Other good choises might be: Eden Eternal, Allods Online or Runes of Magic. But I'm recommending WoW because as a game it's higher quality, more polished, and usually a more fun /EDIT
Tend to agree, for anyone totally new to MMO's then WoW is often a good place to start learning the 'ropes' its easy, and the game does 'teach you' to play the game while making it a fun experience, its also one of the most polished games out there, with good reason given the age of the game. Even if don't intend to stick with the game long term, it will introduce the new player to all the basics and hopefully teach them how to play in a group for dungeons etc.
