I wish the industry didn't adopt the word ' survival' to mean 'zombie game.
Xyson is more of what I think of an 'survival' game.
The industries adoption of the word 'survival' to mean zombie has made my searches really problematic.
I agree, but you can have a survival game with or without zombies...
It is still search for food, clean water, shelter or materials to make any of the fore mentioned items, in my opinion. You can be running and trying to survive the weather, animals, zombies, demons, other players... it doesn't have to be just zombies. Survival game should be about surviving no matter what the opposition is.
I like Fallen Earth, but I like crafting and as a f2p player crafting in FE sucks big time!
7days2die I have been looking into a bit more, however, $35.00 for an alpha build of a single player survivor RPG with some multiplayer hacked into it seems a bit high if you ask me.
Guess I will keep looking...
There are *ahem*other*ahem* places you could go to "try" it for a much "lower" price. Think of it as a "trial" version if that's more your style. Then buy it if you like it.
To find an intelligent person in a PUG is not that rare, but to find a PUG made up of "all" intelligent people is one of the rarest phenomenons in the known universe.
my issue with most survival games is they are horror based. i would love to find a wilderness survival game or one where humanity is gone from the earth for the most part.
Indeed, but horror is a part of survival. Though, not direct, in your face horror with supernatural elements, but you know?
I can't recommend any "survival MMOs". There just isn't one what would be good enough. DayZ has it's flaws, but it is great if you get a couple of friends and join a decent community - however... in the end it just feels too "gamey".
The Dead Linger seems like a great project, but it will probably take ages to finish. And if we lower the bar a bit, I must say that the new State of Decay looks "OK". Not great, but OK. After all, it is sadly a "console game".
My son and I have been playing 7 Days and loving it. By day we meticulously comb the area for supplies and build up our defenses and at night we fight off zombie hordes. We are now working on a list of materials to carry for setting up remote safe-sites so we can string them across the map and roam where we want and have a safe place to go at night. If you have several friends to play with, this game is a lot of fun. Imagine mines, barbed wire, spike pits, shotguns and lots of screaming zombies.
Stay away from Infection: Survivor Stories. Terrible game made by some of the greediest uncaring people in the gaming industry. They reduce the spawn rate of ammo so you have to buy it with real money and the servers are infested with hackers.
Thanks for the heads up on Survive the Forest and Misamata. Will keep my eye on those two.
Hope you find a game you enjoy.
"Sean (Murray) saying MP will be in the game is not remotely close to evidence that at the point of purchase people thought there was MP in the game." - SEANMCAD

Thanks for the reply, I am leaning towards 7days, just the $35.00 is a bit steep if you ask me for an alpha build with a hak MP trick in it. The game is already funded, and I understand the need to make money in order to keep production going. I think they would see a great success with a $10 alpha, perhaps a $25.00 beta, then a $35.00 or $49.00 gold, with each upgraded level you just pay the difference if you continue to follow the game.
Just an opinion of a long time beta tester trying to make sense of the new dev companies and their strange way of bring out new games. I just hope they never use the phrase "soft-release" for 7days...
Based on this thread I bought Seven Days to Die last night. had to download it from a european server since the U.S. download server web page was crashing. Haven't installed it yet. Wish me luck.
Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon. In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

We?re all dead, just say it.
The Long Dark... Great find thanks, will be watching that one for sure.
Seems like the gaming industry is following gamers wants, they are just a bit behind the desire.
