I'd really love to see a game with "premium immersion" servers, where all out of game chat would be forced on specific channels and strictly enforced and the general and local chat would only be about the game, names (including guild names) that don't fit the setting would be changed quickly (stupid, childish, retarded names, names that are not names, references to "real world", etc...), people disrupting other's experience in any way warned first and then locked out from the "premium immersion" servers and forced to play on normal ones.

I'd pay $30 per month for such servers in a good AAA game. The additional $15 would be used to fund the increased support team required to enforce those rules.

You realize this would end like this:

    Realistic Relationship/Marriage System

Not like Fable or Skyrim where it's like, "Ok, we're married... Now I'm going to go on a quest for 10 years and you'll act like there's nothing weird about that."

Nope, like if you haven't seen your wife in a while, she'll be wicked pissed when you come home. Maybe she will give you dailies like running to town to get something for her. Maybe if you go away for too long she'll start to proposition other players. Maybe you can have kids and visit them as they grow up and teach them how to fight (like a pet system).

Of course it depends on whether you sign a pr-nup.

That would, of course, depend on the state of women's (or men's) liberation within your given zone, which probably means that we need:

    Realistic Legal/Political System

Laws and politics are governed by the geographic area within the game. Obviously, democratic zones will have elections, etc., political parties or guilds and must be elected, while some have monarchies or dictatorships. Within each political system, laws are governed by the government and, therefore, divorce may or may not be an option. In fact, it could be that if you don't like her any more, that you could behead her.

This went crazy faster than I thought. I was going to point out the conflicts but it will be just too much. Fortunately having many servers with different rules can allow for them to co-exist but that creates other problems. Oh well, it's all in fun. image

AI with wandering NPCs (similar to radiant AI)
+ mob aggro is broken by loosing LOS or enviromental cover
    Item decay
    Fighting from horseback
    Craftable player housing
Instanced story missions with a LFD feature
    Player music
    Only really long quests(chains)
Seamlessly loading zones without invisible barriers
    Karma based open PvP
     + consentual PvP
    No in-combat healing
    Faction Loyalty system
Dynamic Stat Advancement / Ryzom skill system
Bounty loot turned in to any NPC
    Elves in game
    Scar/Damage System
    Realistic environment
Facebook integration (achievement tracking and posting)

    Space Travel
More player groups other than guilds (nations, gangs, clans, etc)
    Bounty System
    Skillchains
A PvP focused map with building and capturing mechanics
    Taming
5+ Player Factions with an Alliance form/dissovle system
    Limited use of objective guiding
TPV action combat with ranged combat as primary
    Slap face ability
    Erosion
Servers with different rulesets (restrictions, features, difficulty)
     + High Immersion server
Realistic Relationship/Marriage System (like Fable or Skyrim)
    Dinosaurs

    ???????????????????????????????????
The setting is Walmart on Black Friday and the objective is kill your fellow customers to get the last DVD player on sale.
Need to eat, drink, pee and poop.
    Time travel
    Boob physics
    Realistic flatulence

    ???????????????????????????????????

A zombie server without safe zones.

If you get killed by a zombie there is a 20% chance you will become a zombie yourself.

If you kill a non-zombie you have a 19% chance to become human again. image

Oh god yes. I was hoping someone wouldn't have beat me to this one.

I guess I'll just add some elaboration then,  some sort of deep ability and spell combinations that will add to the complexity of group play. I was excited to see this in GW2 until I saw it wasn't as prevalent as I would have liked. MMO's should make the group experiences more intricate and fun rather than just a way to clear a dungeon.

Eco system, with decently realistic reloads.Example creatures only spawn back after several days, same thing for harvests.Make everything rare and hard to find, the economy would flourish with this design.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Hmm, not a bad feature set, surprisingly enough.  Thumbs up for skyrim-like AI, player-craftable housing, and relationship system (that isn't as shallow as Fable's or Skyrim's)! :D  I was going to say courtable npcs myself (and they would come back to live at your house).  But since that's already in there, if I can pick only one feature to add, I want all the monsters in the game to be capturable, and captured monsters can be bred and used as mounts (also, player-craftable monster-breeding and storage buildings would be implied by the intersection of these two features).  Can I bundle a mount-racing minigame/arena into my one feature, or is that too much? :D

Item decay - while not one of my favorite mechanics (I prefer bind-on-equip as a mechanic to support crafting), I _can_ think of one example where item decay is a fun mechanic that isn't related to crafting: the Sims.  Item decay could be a good source of comedy if it was actually designed to be funny.

I want to help design and develop a PvE-focused, solo-friendly, sandpark MMO which combines crafting, monster hunting, and story.  So PM me if you are starting one.

Ok, since we're all picking serious things we want in our games, here's what I want: brain-computer interface.

Imagine if you just plugged a cable into your head, and you basically "dreamed" the game. There's the potential that you would actually feel and experience the entire game as if it were real. Imagine how exciting that would be! Arrrrgh I can't wait for the future!

An MMO'RPG' not just focused on combat. Now, let me explain what I mean by that.

By all means, combat is viable, but it is not the ONLY path. I've seen so many games attempt their claim to fame by offering this, but in the end, truth be told, their innovation lacks violence (for whatever reason). I'm saying an open ended decision, where if you'd like to progress your ENTIRE game sessions around other interesting activities, you CAN. Or mix it up (IF you want), and alternatively stick to the cookie cutter if it suits you best.

I'm not one of "those guys", but I disagree. Item decay can be cool.

Name one game that has had item decay as a "cool feature" rather than a prop to make some other feature work (like crafting).

Dead Island.. forced you to vary your weapons and not just stick with one. Once you got used to it, you enjoyed bashing.. then stabbed.. then hacking. The decay made you try out and enjoy all the other weapons without even realising it. It helped you get the most out of the weapon system.

    Or did you mean MMO?

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

It a nice ideal , treat equipment items as consumable tools to fight like potions .

Go with right setting and player will accept it since it good for craftsman , in game market and parts of gold consume (which lack in most of game)

    Customizable everything!

Want to craft your own abilities? Go for it... more powerful abilities will cost you more resources (mana, focus, cast time, recharge, whatever), but you can craft whatever your heart desires. Find that happy medium that is most efficient for the way you play your character.

Want to customize your stats? Repeating activities will improve activity-related stats. So will genetic manipulation. Want to be more intelligent? Combine genetic traits from parent characters that improve intelligence, then go study, study, study!

Want to trick out your ride? Plop in different components to alter the way your chariot, wagon, hovercraft, whatever handles, it's top speed, acceleration, even it's fuel efficiency. While you're at it, add some pinstriping or flames going down the side.

Want to build a house? Go for it. Put the windows where you want them. Choose your building material. Paint the walls. Elevate or lower the ceilings. Select your flooring and lighting. Decide which painting you want to hang and where you want to hang it.

What are you going to grow on the plot of land you own? Crops? Domesticated beasts? Going to dig a mine? Maybe cut some lumber? Put in a windmill or a water wheel?

Want a sword with a hilt that looks like a dragon's head and a blade that looks like a flame coming from the dragon's mouth? Want the dragon to be purple and the flame to be yellow? Go for it.

Want to be a politician? A noble? Want to run a Ponzi scheme? A liar? A good guy? Want to protect the weak, but only of a certain race? Want to commit genocide? Go to it!
