No one is entitled to get a key, it's a chance for everyone.. If you can't live without a key, then pay whatever they sell them for or make tons of accounts yourself.
I got a key from blizzard like 2 weeks ago, and I'll tell you right now, the game is fun for a couple of days, but there aren't enough cards to make it interesting for months, like most others' with keys you'll probably have fun for a couple of days, and then start to log in less than before.
Don't worry guys, you're not missing out, you're not getting left behind.... it's just an expensive pixel tcg.
Don't listen to this guy, man. The game is worth the wait.
Just for the love of god, don't buy the key. Seriously.
He has a point tho. I had a blast for a few days and then I started to get bored already.
It seriously is a fun game, but it's mechanics are pretty simplistic.
I Guess that is their point, like With WoW back then, to mainly target People New to TCG.
I have been too spoiled With Magic The Gathering and played it too long during my student years.
I am currently a backer for Faeria on kickstarter and playing the closed Beta of that one and it's a lot more fun for me.
It is how it works. I didn't even know the site existed until the Hearthstone give-away. It's actually a very cool site, and I Look forward to using my account long after the key giveaways.
I don't think it's a big deal. I could easily compare the amount of time you've been a member to my ancient join date, for instance, and make the same argument. But I won't.
They want more people to visit the site; more people are evidently visiting the site. And there you go.
I got beta month ago, but after this thread decide to join contest to pass it to some good soul, but didn't win.
Anyway, this is how it works - anyone who gets key to giveaway must accept new members - to promote game. Happened to local site, where admin was pissed he couldn't give keys to his vip/customers member, must accept everyone. 1 day after announce a local fan site became international site with hundreds of "1 post" new members with some of them using google translate. Blizzard told him that they will give him 3 waves of keys, every wave per 1 week. 2nd wave he decide to give some keys for old members - and byebye from Blizzard. They didn't send him another batch, cause he didn't follow their rules about giveaway. Month after he got another 25 keys, but must accept everyone in competition, no matter if site is local fun site, if new member come from Mars or Moon.
I always remember winning a giveaway once on this site and along with several others never receiving the prize. (It was something boring anyway). Just get a Blizzard account and opt in for betas. That is how I got a key to this beta. Don't rely on these type of websites to win anything lol.
I am pretty sure someone has already put it out, but the rules to a hearthsstone beta giveaway is to let everyone single person have a chance, it must be random, if not u will not get the next batch of keys they send to you
Its not the problem of new players(new to the MMORPG site). This is what the givaways like that are all about to attract more ppl to the site. Nothing wrong here.
The problem is ppl who create multiple accounts to up their chances. Most of those ppl are leechers who later sell those keys on ebay.
The only way to make such givaway "right" and more fair for "veterans" and fans of MMORPG site would be to divide the keys batch. For example, give away 100 keys to users with accounts older than 1 week(or at least before this givaway was announced). And other 100 to the rest.
And everybody are happy. Well maybe not the leechers I was talkign about earlier, those who make multiple accounts just to make money out of it.
It's a catch 22... they want to drive more people to the site so locking out new folks would be counter to that goal. They also don't want spammers...
I think his point is that they are maybe not newcomers but same people with multiple accounts.
Yes it is good for a site to attract new people,i think the best way to do it is to have so many for users of say 3 months or more and so many for new comers.
If you don`t do it that way,you will often see new accounts leech off the entire set of Beta keys before someone legit gets off of work and had no chance to get a key.

I am fed up with my son, brother, wife and other family constantly taking up my computer to play with MY cards anyway.
Seriously the last 3 days, I got to play one hour, all the rest was taken up by everyone else in reach of my PC. I am even obliged to take hard copies of my decks as they change my winning decks all the time without asking even.
This thing is gonna be so hot, it will toast your machines.

Open it up Blizz.
Quite a family gathering there, didn't know you amish folk are into PCs and card games! ::-------DDDD
We are actually doing quite a lot to ensure that users creating dupe accounts make as little impact as possible on the winners chosen. However, people with new accounts =/= dupers. There is huge interest in these giveaways and lots of people who don't regularly visit (or lurk) are creating accounts to enter. There's nothing wrong with this.
I am following mmorpg for years, reading reviews etc...but i didn't have an account till now. I was checking the names of those who participate in day 7. I will just tell you one example: there is a guy with the names backdoor1,backdoor2,backdoor3,backdoor4,backdoor5,backdoor6

I do however hope that some measures are being taken to identify (and possibly disqualify) multiple new accounts from the same IP address.

hehe, I thought I was bad
What about those "new" account makers that are truely legit? How do you tell them apart? You can't.
Just have to take it with a grain of salt and hope you get one, if not, you move on. No harm really done over a "Game" right?
Good luck to all, may it be veterans or new people here.

I would be willing to bet the "new folk" are regular users trying to get one over like the chump in that other thread boasting about selling the keys.
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
