Been playing League so much lately the toxicity is running through our veins. We need an MMO with:
1. Clearly defined class roles
2. Dungeons w/ splash of PvP
3. Tab Targetting (ya... its like that)
4. Interdependent crafting (no one man shows)
We are done with Word of Buttonsmash, tried Swtor and can't stand the constant AOE pulls for EVERY PULL IN THE GAME either questing or in dungeons. Vanguard had annoying animation lag that really ruined the game for us (hit button..1...2....3.. damage appears). same with EQ2.
Is there anything else out there or are we doomed to run with trolls forever?? SAVE US FROM THE TROLLS PLEASE
Comments
ive never had the Vanguard button mash then action lag. lots of other kinds of lag over the years, but not that particular one. sorry to hear it ruined the experience for you.
have you considered FFXIV? the crafting is exactly as you describe, as well as the class roles, and arena based pvp will be added i believe in the next patch due out SoonTM.

"Vox Populi, Vox Deorum"
You've just described most MMOs, tbh.
The most recent one that fits those criteria would be FFXIV (though the PvP isn't in yet, but will be in the next update (end of november / early december)).
If you wanna go back in time, there's GW2 (though the class roles may not be clearly defined enough for you).
Then there's Age of Conan / The Secret World. AoC being more action-y, TSW being more spooky / occult themed.
Before that you have games like Eve (but it's spaced based). You have the superhero games (DC-Universe, Champions online, CoX).
You also have Aion, & TERA, which are both now F2P. Though I have no idea how the populations are nowadays.
Honestly, no offense, but it sounds like you're in the same trap as everyone else. You're looking for a new game, that isn't WoW, but has all the same features as WoW. Which, you won't enjoy for very long, because it's too much like WoW. It's a vicious cycle.
You'd probably have better luck opening your spectrum a bit and trying out some other types of games. Something that isn't the same old - same old. Otherwise, FFXIV is prolly your best shot for now.
we may have different definitions of 'cartoony', but i dont find FFXIV's graphics cartoony at all.
as for having asian styled mechanics, there is some grinding in the game, but no more than most other mmo's i have played. if you stick to the storyline quests, which not only level you, but also unlock various perks in the game, you should be fine.
the new director Yoshi is a big fan of western styled mmo's and has borrowed immensely from that genre in his recreation of FFXIV.

It's not the locations that look cartoony, it's the characters/creatures that look like something from a children's bedtime story book. In my opinion anyway.
To find an intelligent person in a PUG is not that rare, but to find a PUG made up of "all" intelligent people is one of the rarest phenomenons in the known universe.
just looking at the faces i think i can see what you're getting at.
of course, you'd be staring at their backside for most of the game
its too bad they dont have a trial for folks who might want to check it out. because, ya, investing 30USD in a game you may or may not like is kinda iffy, for me at least.

I was able to get into the end of the beta, but sadly the game just didn't fit what I like in mmos. The closed off world and invisible walls everywhere, the very "samey" combat you see in every mmo. And the Asian style characters/clothes. (A big personal peeve of mine.) It just felt like a low quality cookie-cutter mmo to me, like I could have been playing Asian grinder mmo #2966721. I also went into it expecting something more final fantasy(ish), and less of a linear world of warcraft.
Ah well, at least I was able to see I didn't like it without having to shell out some money first. Not sure why so many like it, but then I didn't like WOW either, so I guess it's a playstyle issue.

In my experience there are pros and cons to that approach.
Yes, new games are shiny and (over)populated at first, but then everyone you know quit after two months and your guild is deserted
Old games often has got tons of content in them and at least some sort of balance. And players who are still there tend to care about the game, worts and all...
Honestly, the game world is soo small and everything at the end is instance. They could have got a way with a GW 1 or PSO set up where you just spawn into towns to find parties. Or play by yourself offline for the quests.. because ever quest is solo quest besides the instances.
