I agree that the textures are meh, but lets be fair here.
1. We don't know the graphical settings be utilized. They could be running at low settings for increased performance.
2. We don't know the capability of the computer, which touches on #1.
3. This may not be the "final" release for the textures. Far too often, unless they are trying to flaunt what they can do, Devs will display things in the lowest settings to avoid hiccups.

The world is fine with me, I don't need bleeding edge, the character models could use some improving, and 'some' improvement is not something out of the question, since it isn't even close to being in alpha yet for EQN.
I thought it was going to be more along the lines of PS2, so was a little of a shock at first.
MY biggest worry atm is more that it will be so super casual, that it will be a turn off to me.
Something tells me that with the systems they have implemented (the mob AI, the destructible world, etc.) the game won't be "super casul"
I hope you are right, but I don't see how mob AI is going to do too much, not like if they turned rats into the T-1000, people wouldn't complain and they would get nerfed....I see it maybe giving varied behavior, as they said mobs would have varied responses...But killing mobs is not casual or uncasual. If the advancement is anywhere near what has been the norm, it will be fast, smarter mob or not.
Also, destructible world, I am a little skeptical at how much this is going to add, but that is based on different things. Destruction during combat, I see like taking out bridges and such, but how many places you fight are going to have bridges? I just don't have a lot of hype personally for it. I am more interested in using it to explore different levels of the game world, but not in combat as most people are.
I am not trying to be negative, just realistic, if I had to bet money on it being a tough game with some classic 'grind' or slower progression (horizontal/vertical, doesn't matter which), and something that is very casual, I would feel better about my bet if I picked casual. I just hope it doesn't remind me of GW2 (which I found very bland/cluttered).
I do like the harvesting tiers, even though it is not super innovative, but I liked VG's system, and variety in harvesting, with 3 levels of rarity in the tiers spawns. I do not know that they are going to do this, but I hope so.
reading this thread makes me wonder what half of you guys look like irl. im starting to think that the people complaining about the graphics drive around in a late 70's era camper van with wizards and dragons painted on the side.
seriously guys, get over it.

also, consider the following... all of the textures shown were in direct, bright light. put them inside a dimly lit room, set up a few torches with some ambient occlusion, watch the metallic objects glint and shine and then tell me the game looks like crap.
I have made some screencaps of the textures from the video:
I really have no idea what they where thinking. Everything looks as if it was coming straight from candyland and on top the textures even look kind of dull and generic. I wanted to build awesome looking structures in Landmark, but this is an arrow to the knee to every creation. And the worst thing is that a wall texture really isn’t hard to make. It’s essentially just a bitmap file.
Again we have the infamous blue play-doh wall and some things that are hard to identify. The oddly coloured sausages are supposed to be gemstone despite having no shine at all and the big greyish cube in lower right is supposed to be iron.
Well, what did you think what Tony the Tiger’s house looks like? Apparently they want to go through with the Disney style all the way to the end. But I have to say that even the wall textures from Tangled actually look better.
I often hear thinks like: “I don’t care for the art style if the gameplay is good”. This is true, EQN is probably going to be a great game despite the odd art style, but it doesn’t make the art style any better. It is still bad and inappropriate for the game.
Why are we all that surprised? This is totally in line with the established cartoony-looking characters. Not saying I like the textures but at least they are consistent.
The video we saw of the castle was Smeds attempt at using the tools. He didn't even add any cracks or character into the walls. It was obviously not done with the same attention to detail that players and developers will do.
We saw at the SoE Live reveal that you can rough up the textures to make them look life like and detailed.
By all means give them feedback, but I think that the finished world and player designs will be quite different from what you have seen.

Here are some other screenshots some of which don't look so over the top cartoonish. It looks like you have a range of textures/colors to work with.
Would have linked images but they didn't seem to format properly because I'm a n00b.
