Trial anytime soon ?
Will there be a trial any time soon, would like to try it out but dont want to spend £20 just to find out I dont like it.

You missed the free trial.. err.. open beta.
I wouldn't expect a free trial at all - I don't think FFXI ever got a free trial. It did get some promotions where you could buy it + expansions for a reduced price, that's probably the best you will be able to hope for with ARR.
