MMO's with offline/passive progression

ShiverwarpShiverwarp Member Posts: 6

Hi guys, first time posting.

I have been craving an MMO with some sort of offline progression akin to EVE, where you have some initial setup, but still have growth while you are not playing (In EVE this is the skills), but does anyone have some other examples? Whether setting up a city, or anything similar to EVE?

I would love to hear anything you guys would recommend in this sort of vein!

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion! I am not so particular about the city builder or EVE skill progression, that was just the best example I could think of!

Age of Wushu is very EVE-like in its time-gated progression.  In oversimplified terms, your level can loosely be determined by your how far you've progressed in your character's inner.  Improving/cultivating your inner occurs over time (with various ways to improve the rate).  Of course, there's a lot more to it than that but it still relies chiefly on time versus the traditional practice of grinding mobs or questing.

One big note: while you will progress naturally while playing the game, to cultivate while offline requires VIP status that costs $9/mo.  Also, you cannot queue multiple levels of your inner up as you can with EVE and its skills.  When you 'ding' an inner level you have to physically log on to set up the next one, so you generally have to be more aware and active in managing what you improve and when.

Perpetuum is Eve with robots and is worth a look. I had a blast back when insurance covered enough to get back into a mech easy.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

For crafting Fallen Earth had a kind of offline progress.

You would set the item to be crafted, several items at a time if you wish.  The item would then be made weather in real-time, whether you were on or off-line, the timer would still count down.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it is bad.

    Progressquest doesn't require a browser.

    I've got a level 81 Skraeling Tongueblade, 4 of 6 million xp to 82.

I wonder if there are any games with sort of mini-games with offline progression akin to Runescape with the ape atoll town(I think it was there) or the Port minigame

Neverwinter's offline crafting system allows you to earn XP, loot and cash without playing. Can manage your crafts from a web interface, too.

Wushu is the closet thing to EVE on the market in terms of progression.

I'm currently cultivating a high end internal. There are currently 49 levels for it. Level 39-40 takes about 5 days.

I actually tried Wushu, but from what I could tell from the forums they were having some server issues, and I never could actually get it to update or play. :(
