Yeah people getting their gil stolen when near market boards and summoner bells.  Being forced to buy cheap stuff for millions without any window popping up.

Not really anything to laugh about. Cheaters suck on any game and deserve to be thrashed soundly.

This is quite suprising and shows they have been unable to fix the server security code issues.

Hacking your own character for massive amounts of gold or instant level ups was surprising (you are still able to do this but they can track people that do it obviously) but hacking gold from other players while they were logged in is something you don't even see in cheaply made f2p titles.  The server code for this game is terrible, sadly they can't do anything about it now it seems because that would involve massive reprogramming to the backend of the game (and possibly a lot more lag to go with it).

When a company publicly states legal action it's because they can't fix the code problem and are trying to scare the hackers from doing it more, in reality they won't be able to do anything legally.  If these hackers are worth their salt they won't be trackable anyway and once the servers go back up they will go right back to doing it.  They will have to put gms into checking and hopefully banning them as soon as they find it being done again, no way they can simply fix it in an emergency maint cycle.

From past experience you are about to see a lot of people posting about getting banned for using VPN services etc, since that's the easiest way to hide your IP for hacking.

Oh and incase anyone is unaware this isn't RMT, this is hacking groups.  FF has large and well experienced western hacking groups working on the game, nothing to do with RMT.  Same things happened on FFXI but that game had secure server <> client coding.  Either this game was rushed or they tried to negate the lag issues that proper security checks brings that plagued v1 and went way too far.

People that botted are the ones losing gil.

Since they gave their online session IDs away.

    [mod edit]

    OT:

well im glad they didnt took my gil lol...guess every new game has to go through this. since games getting more and more complicated, there wont be a full polished game at release anymore. and its ok to me as long they bann the hackers and give the hacked ppl their stuff back.
