Ok, so I was playing an old game on my computer called Stormrise. (got it uber cheap like 2 dollars or something).
I KNEW from the Reviews that it was prolly a horrible game, but I decided to buy and try it anyways since im a sucker for post-apocalyptic games of any sort.
ANYWAYS, the game worked fine for a couple of missions,
THAN SUDDENLY, the character voices got muted in the game. I could hear Everything else, but not the characters voices (on the main characters voice could be Heard).
This isnt bad, but here comes THE BAD PART:
I deleted the game from my system, restarted, BUT I WAS SHOCKED to notice that, now in ALL VIDEOS AND GAMES on my system, VOICES ARE MUTED.
The rest of the sound works, albeit wierdly, but no voice-overs whatsoever!
I deleted my VLC cache, restarted again, deleted the remnants of the bloddy stormrise game etc,
AND NADA,
I can not listen to any sort of voice-overs on my system anymore, not when running videos, and not when running games.
PLEASE HELP! Any advice would be appriciated.
(PS! And how can a game frak my system up like that, lol)
System Specs:
I7 3930
x2 Geforce GTX 690 (4 old 680 cards in total)
Asus Xonar Phoebus Soundcard
Logitech Z-906 Speakers (5.1)
32GB Ram
500Gig SSD
1TB Harddisk
Software/Programs:
Windows 8
VLC Player
Div X
Itunes and Quicktime
Standard Windows Media Player
I am guessing that this must be a problem with one or several of my CODECS since it seems to be effecting the sound quality of EVERYTHING ensuring that I cannot hear voices in videos/games (except on Youtube), but i am not sure.
Any assistance is much appriciated, thanks!
