We are transitioning from the "WoW Clone" Era to the "Minecraft" Era. Seriously? This isnt even remotely good. No one is original anymore its just:

This is a complete rip off of Minecraft and I wouldnt play it even if it was free. I'll give EQ:N a few points for being a WoW / Minecraft hybrid but I have a sneaking suspicion its going to be its own downfall. Whatever... we'll just have to see how it all blows up in the end I guess.
Trion seems to be the company that looks for something popular and then attempts to duplicate it with some small variations. That's all I've seen from them so far.
Never liked Minecraft... but my good friend's two pre-teen boys did.
Obviously, enough people get off on this kind of activity that I find excruciatingly boring that the $uit$ have noticed. It's this age's Furby.
Expect many more clones.

I have to agree. I don't require ultra realistic, but I do kinda like the rough edges to be smoothed off a bit.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

There are plenty of MMOs that are coming out but MMORPG seems to never advertise or research anything about them. It seems like they don't care so long as they're not getting a little something something in return.
It's free, and has some interesting features & potential so I'll probably try it.
I think I'll stick with Minecraft & Planet Explorers though for sandboxes, as well as Starbound once it's released.

I thought this was an mmorpg forum, a lot of the games covered don't even qualify.
Honestly, the entire genre is shifting to a blend of MMO+RPG elements. We'll cover everything we can, and anything that blurs the lines. This definitely qualifies, as the worlds will be persistent, at least until they're "completed". There are going to be at least a hundred people per world, likely more. 60 is only during their pre-alpha tests, and they ran out of people to add.
Studios and publishers are veering away from the term MMO, and creating their own terms, but we'll decide what we should cover and shouldn't based on a number of factors. Trove, in our eyes, fits.
In a lot of ways, we're starting to think of the site as MMO+RPG.com, and that's something a lot of MMO-centric sites have long been doing. Fear not though, in the upcoming redesign (yes, we're almost there for the beta test), you'll be able to filter more easily the stuff you don't want to see.
Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

As long as mmos still get the proper attention I don't see the problem with them covering more games. I'm interested in more than just mmos, and getting more info about them is better.Sure it cuts into the space " why this game sucks" threads would normally take up on the forums but...who cares ?

Minecraft Bandwagon…… oh my lord. What is going on in mom-development these days… Where are the games for real men? What is wrong with you developers?! Seriously, where are the DEVS from the early '00s? They were able to build good games….

That's too bad -- I really wish you guys would stick to your roots and what you're good at. Although I admit, we're in a dry spell for new MMOs until Spring-ish so I guess you have to publish or perish.
Maybe they could also add in Zombie survival PVP so they can be even more like every other (except for wildstar, and ESO) MMO coming out these days. Can never get enough of killing zombies can we? Zombies its the new Orc! and Voxels its whats for dinner!
End point when graphic positively don't matter at all make a minecraft clone its the in thing.
Where did people get this weird idea that game developers, ever, did not freely crib new gimmicks from each other just as quickly new gimmicks were invented?
I mean, come on, 30 years isn't enough confirmation?
Comments
Oh man, because we don't already have enough voxel based games like this... Oh wait...
Minecraft.
Cubeworld.
3079.
Vox.
Forge Quest.
EQ: Next.
EQ: Next Landmark.
The list goes on and on and on... Good job on reading the market Trion. This is exactly what people want.

What's next for Trion, maybe a Farmville Clone ?
And Trion finds a way to stretch themselves even thinner!

The crafting and the card-supported battle seems cool.
On the other hand, how do you say sh?nen and fanservice in korean?
edit: shonen (lame char.set...)
Hmmm... Should it be "You're not in Minecraft anymore!" or "You're not in Cubeworld anymore!" this time?
My opinion of Trion has never been all that high, especially after Defiance, but this... This is just embarrassing.
