AA released localization all ready suffered from bots so it will be easy to get it what left? F2P model which will give possability to create 100 bots how we did long time ago in Silkroad if you dont know go on you tube and search for Silkroad bots no matter what you and how much you ban them I was runing dozen of them and never get one ban nobody gaved a fuck Same will be with Archage.
How will affect economy simple 2 scenario
materials which will be easy to gather will be tons on auction selling for arcs for example stone will be a lot and at a very low price of arks after a while after release
rare stuff will cost crazy amounts of Arcs and wont change because rare stuff in AA are quite hard to get.
to be honest I'm freaked out why people are so chilled about it. this model is broken
remember Diablo 3 auction it will be worse because GOLD has no value also
if you have a house farm castle you must pay tax in ARCS yeah ARCS so you will be forced to transfer $$ to game to pay daily or monthly tax for house farm IN ARCHAGE.
Every one make topic QQ on forum make Trion see our point of view because if this model will be applied by them it's the end of ARCHAGE
Silkroad bot story go and read same will be with ARCHAGE
Silkroad developer publisher Joymax Co. Korean and XLgame will do same as this Joymax they dont care about players they care only to get all your money. And silkroad is a good example how F2P game gets shity
I have also completely lost interest in this game, and the fact that i started hearing about this game... 2 years ago? And it hasnt come to EU or US yet? Pitiful. I think the company realized their game wasnt going to sell as well as they thought, so they had to monetize it so they could pay everyones salary for next week.
It seem that the only way ARCS get added to the world is through real world money(via crystals). Seeing as you can't trade gold, their entire in game economy is based on real world money. Sorry no thanks.
We have now reached the sorry point in MMO history where a subscription MMO made in Korea is released as a F2P MMO in the West. Our appetite for subscriptions is so bad that's what they decided to do. Talk about a turn around.
I understand posters concerns that a triple currency system would hide true costs to players, but it does address the gold farming. I don't see how you could farm Arc's in the same way.
id rather deal with gold farmers then this asinine f2p payment model.
What game have you played that was infested with gold farming bots? I tell you it ruined Lineage here in the west. It was a primary factor in losing subscription numbers that eventually led to it shutting down. Even if you are willing to shell out $15/mo on a sub game do you think the rest of western gamers will do the same? I don't.
Botters can be addressed with a dedicated dev team. The cash shop, f2p payment model on the other hand is just stupid. I would rather pay 15 a mouth and have access to all of the game then have to micro manage every purchase i made. And i dont give a rats ass what the rest of western gamers do. By far the most ungrateful gaming community in the market.
So what bot infested p2p game has ever dealt with that with their dedicated dev team and succeeded? What makes you think that would happen here in your scenario? And really, you don't care what they do even if that means the shutdown of the game? Fingers meet ears, head meet sand.
I know Rift was getting good at bot popping there for a bit before i left. So there is one p2p game ( at the time i left ) that was dealing with bots well. And yes i dont give a shit about the vast majority of the western mmo gamer because in my eyes there far from the type of gamer i would want to spend my time with. I would much rather spend my time with 300k of like minded gamers then 12 mil mindless dungeon crawling zombies that want everything handed to them. "Even if it means the shutdown of the game" please.
"Neverwinter is where we should confine all F2P players for the rest of eternity as their punishment for supporting a god awful pay model."
Not played NW, but that did make me smile.
It seems then at best the different currency systems just slow down gold farmers. They will get less profit, but they will get profit, so I don't see this deterring them.

Except that it doesn't. When I was playing NW the gold sellers were out of control. It didn't do anything to slow them down in the slightest. They sold diamonds instead of gold. Oh and don't forget all the exploits of the system that allowed people to get scammed for what essentially is real money. Oh and the economy was ruined. Could go on and on but the bottom line is it was a fiasco so you should run away from any game implementing anything remotely similar.
I really wish it was just a monthly sub or a system similar to guild wars 2. But i dont believe in holding core game features behind a paywall. at least Guild Wars 2 keeps it to modest boosts and cosmetics only.

Im sorry mate but this doesn't change anything. Yes mail.ru changed model but mail.ru is a company with worst possible reputation in one game they had a cashshop item where full set of max rune cost 30 000 $ in a F2P game . So good Bless ans save poor russian souls.
Any F2p will kill this game it's a fact so don't trust what they are saying. F2p is a low income model if it don't affect balance. For example World of Tank is a high income F2p because buying Monthly bonus will boost you by a lot and at late levels you can't play without because amunition cost more then you get per match . As a result PRESENT F2p IS focused 100% on your money.
And trust me F2p AA model without arch will be as bad as with them. They need income and they will put a lot of OP trash in cash shop.
lets say 10$ x 1kk players= all win players quality balanced game Trion and XLshitypaymodelgame money considering that there is no game at the moment that could offer what ArchAge can so It might turn to have a HUGE fan base and player unfortunatly all news pay models made me change my mind about game
Only good model is a medium Monthly subscription with Armors weapon skins in cash shop also Skill effects like is POE will be cool too. only skins no stats bonuses.
So arc is the main source of currency in this game, if you want play for free an have access to premium stuff you need arc. So players can farm arch or sell materials to other players for arc? Correct me if I'm wrong at any point. So wont gold sellers be able to do the same? They will farm, arcs from what ever source they can, they will also farm materials and sell them on the AH fro more arc, eventual this will give them a steady stream of arcs, which then they would sell to players. If I'm still on point, wont players be then competing against gold sellers on AH. So I'm confused how this will prevent gold sellers. Also, if i'm right, tackling them will be much harder as players will be farming relentlessly for arc to have access to premium stuff. I might not have understood the system correctly and could be wrong, could some shed light on this for me?

If I understand what the interview said, and paraphrased it, I believe the use of arcs is intended to prevent bot farming via a no-risk, trivial bot program. The kind that performs such easy tasks with no danger of loss, having small individual yields, but becoming profitable if run 24 / 7. Like node farming in WoW, or killing easy trash mobs repeatedly in other games.
It does sound like their system will not totally block the black market trade, but make it hard for a lone bot to get much return. Groups of bots though will likely break their system. (perhaps being more detectable by GM's and other players though?)
Or at least that's how it sounded to me.
Since arcs equate to power, I can't say I'm thrilled that they can be bought in the cash-shop. (ie buy Crystals, convert them to arcs)
Well, I read it and I'm not really seeing the problem. You can earn Arcs by playing the game, and by buying Crystals, but by also playing the game. The only thing you can buy with Crystals is cosmetic items it seems. I'm glad to see more games offering ways to earn their features that are bought with real money by also just playing the game. Obviously they have to earn real money in some way, and I like that they can still do this but offer people with a lot of time a way to not have to pay real money, as well. I like these systems a lot better for MMOs, because to me MMOs are just a timesink, and I know some people will complain that they want an option to speed through content faster because they "don't have enough time", but for them they have the option to do so by paying real money. This doesn't anger me at all, to me paying real money just for convenience and going through content faster is a waste. Why play a game just to throw money at it to skip through it? To me, at that point, you are paying them money to play their game less.

Think there is something people are missing here.

Very happy to see the majority here understand how toxic F2P is.
I have tried 3 F2P games, and after the third was able to easily say i would never try one again.
