Mass Effect 3 Cerberus Lab Mission problem

Okay, so I get the 1st artifact and then I go back to place it on the shuttle for extraction, accept one small problem, I can't place it on the shuttle! There is a red thing right on the shuttle to interact with but I press space over and over and nothing happens! I have tried doing this missions several times now and can't get past it! Please help me as I really don't want to start the whole game over again (I don't have saves before this mission).
