I built my son a PC for Xmas and I still need a video card for the build. I was going to pick up a Radeon R9 280X for myself and give him my old HIS Radeon 6970, but it seems I waited too long and the 280X's are nowhere to be found. Now, I guess I need to just buy him a card that will run games well at medium settings on 1920x1080. I don't want to go over $150. The rest of the pertinent specs are:
I5-4440
Asus H87-Plus mobo
Kingston 240GB SSD
WD 500GB HDD
Seasonic SSR-550RM PSU
G. Skill ARES 8GB
Any help is appreciated.

You can buy an AMD 7790 card for under $150 from New Egg.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

You're probably not going to do better than that while staying inside of a strict $150 budget.
One other option I'll bring up if you're looking to spend quite a bit less without giving up all that much performance is this:

Right now, that's $130 before a $30 rebate.
That 7850 for $100 after rebate is a sweet deal. If your looking for a capable card on a budget then cant go wrong with that.
The 660 that was linked is nice also. I found a 7870 ghz edition for just over budget if you have some wiggle room and want a good gpu.

$155 after rebate. That or the 660 should last awhile.
Thanks everyone! That 660 is perfect! Price is right and it should at least last a while before I have to think about upgrading for him.
